From the unofficial Enchanted Laboratory website, I learned that the Castle O’Sullivan building was converted into a theater because The Catapult suffered low ridership in that location due to people not knowing what the ride was, since it was indoors. Since the building was small, a show in that building was suggested by the then corporate Entertainment Vice President. So, a ride is probably out of the picture for that location, not to mention the cost of reverting the building back to a ride space.
I’ve tried to think about reasons why they don’t use that theater anymore, but the only things I can think of is that A: The show in the theater can’t afford to be too popular, because the theater is small. B: Shows of Secrets of Castle O’Sullivan’s caliber are too expensive for PRKS’ current budget, especially considering the small amount of people that the theater can hold.
Therefore, a new show in that space seems very unlikely right now to me. As far as why they don’t bring back Secrets of Castle O’Sullivan specifically, I don’t know. I think the show should be easier to run today with all the technology improvements since then. It would probably be more reliable, with fewer cancelled performances.
P.S.: You have no idea how sad I was when Elmo and Big Bird and company walked out of the portal and inside the portal was nothing but darkness. Lol
