Canada’s Wonderland announced that they will be getting rid of their SkyFlyer for 2024, does this mean KD’s is next? If they were to get rid of it, what do you think could replace it? I think a Zamperla Endeavor named Apple Turnover would be amazing, especially if it could open for the parks 50th anniversary.

Removing Xtreme Skyflyer would open up a nice plot of land for either one huge flat or two or even three smaller flats.

But hear me out: what if they also removed the go karts? It wouldn’t be totally implausible for them to remove both, since CF has been gradually phasing both out over time.

The Skyflyer plot and the go kart plot could be easily combined — the only thing that stands between them is the path that leads to Grizzly, and that could easily be rerouted or worked around. Now suddenly you have a huge plot for a mini area that could house multiple flats, or maybe even a coaster. That whole area of the park could basically be totally redeveloped.

One can dream.

I've never ridden one of these and can't say I'm that interested in doing so. Most of the time when I go by it, no one is riding it, so it doesn't seem to be that popular. Thus removing it seems like a no brainer. The go karts also only seem to get minimal use. Removing both and adding some cool flats would be great. I doubt we'd get another new coaster so close to the wing, but I suppose they could keep this around until it is time to add another coaster again.

So the empty spaces next to Delirium wouldn't be big enough for that? But I guess this would also be a good spot.

as long as there is a plan to replace it with immediacy. I don't really support removing anything and just leaving an ugly caldera-shape hole for years.

I love this ride and ride it almost every visit (about 20 per year). I hate to see it go but would support removing all uncharged rides.

The thing with the skyflyer is that it's a one-and-done for most guests as tbh, once you release the cord it's not as thrilling as it seems... Giant graceful arcs through the sky (from the one time I did it).

Given that I believe the majority of attendance is coming from locals and passholders during the regular season when it operates, there just isn't a particularly high population of guests consistently willing to pay that much extra for the attraction.

The karts are kind of in the same boat, with there also being far better kart tracks within short distances of the park... There's not really an incentive to drive them on such a short track for what they charge.

Removing them would dramatically open up the old Dinosaurs Alive space for future development... And potentially give them an option to better hide the backside of the theater.

I have never seen the go karts operating. I avoid busy weekend days so maybe that’s why, but it’s still surprising I have yet to see them running (in recent memory at least).

If they remove Skyflyer, it’s only worth it if they remove the go karts too, since otherwise only another flat could replace it, and replacing an upcharge flat with a regular flat seems like a waste.

But removing two upcharge attractions also seems unlikely.

Dreampipe here but let me have it:
Take out Skyflyer with precision, keep the carts, and my a FEC as part of extra outside the park with a hotel to make a draw.

God I wish I were rich.

Isn't that what Challenge Park at Cedar Point was? Had to look it up, it lasted from 1992 to 2016, decent run.

And now that you made me think about it, would a Challenge Park make sense for Kings Dominion when there's a competing FEC in Fredericksburg?

Maybe. if they either demolished and rebuilt the hotel as an experience hotel, or incorporated it into the camp ground.

It MIGHT work if they added it as a free add-on for platinum passholders.

I'll say it and I'm not ashamed...

I like Xtreme SkyFlyer.

I ride it every visit. It's best after 2-3 beers. I won't lose sleep over the karts, but please don't take my swingy cables.

I rode it once - the thrill was really in the lift to the top and pulling the cord, after the first drop it felt really short and gentle.

But I also wasn't a few deep, so...

I'm totally fine with it being replaced. Of course, there's plenty of space if they want to make basically an FEC on unused land with expanded kart tracks, skycoaster, mini golf, and/or other attractions of similar nature.

It’s definitely an eyesore that adds nothing to the park atmosphere. It was poor use of land that once housed the train.

Idk why. I genuinely don't. It's a one trick pony that costs extra. I should hate it... but I like it instead.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
