"World's First Eco Theme Park and Resort" Announced for Chicago Area

Not sure how well this will do, as it is going up against Six Flags Great America, the indoor and outdoor water parks in Gurnee, the outdoor water park in Rockford, and the plethora of indoor/outdoor water park options in Wisconsin Dells.

As a theme park enthusiast, I won't argue against more offerings, but the analyst in me doesn't see this getting off the ground and/or surviving.
 
Sorta bothers me how uncritical much of the "reporting" on these new park announcements often is. Creative Magnet Entertainment Development, LLC claims they plan to open a free-to-enter, "enormous building which will feature numerous indoor attractions that are designed to educate through entertainment including dark rides, exhibits, a wide format theater, as well as unique shopping and dining experiences" by Fall 2024 as Phase I. There's zero reason to believe these people have land or a dime of funding. Why do outlets pretend any of this is remotely likely to occur?

If a quality theme park was built in the Chicago area it would eventually put Great America out of business IMO. GA has become such a dump.
 
Huh….as a Chicago native, I was skeptical about this at first, but this seems like it will be a very well made park and now I’m excited to hear more information as it comes out
 
I first read this as the world's first EMO theme park and got excited for a second.

With just an afternoon of work with some image and text generation tools, 15 minutes of copying and plasting text into a website builder, and a few minutes to bundle everything up into an email to every news outlet you can think of, you could have your dream emo theme park "coming soon" to any metro area you please within 48 hours!

This is more vague than the American Heartland press release -- at least that revealed a planned location. I'm not rooting for any theme park not to get built, but I don't see any reason to think this one will come to fruition.

I just want a strata coaster called Hawthorne Heights and a Falling In Reverse drop tower, maybe some sort of Death Cab car ride - is that too much to ask? Going to an emo theme park would definitely be A Day To Remember.

Looks like they may have pivoted to an AREA15 style development, attempting to attract 3rd parties to set up shop at "WILD".

Trademark has been filed as of 6/1/2026.

I have no idea what to think - it's all very crude. Sincere doubts still that this will happen, but oddly curious.
