I took this tour last night and I must say it is worth every penny!!! The cruise takes you around the back side of the Rhine River (where the cruise used to go back when the park first opened). It was really neat to see this area again.

The plate of food and wine is worth the cost as well as the atmosphere at dusk and the quiet hum of the boat. The band was playing "beyond the sea" and other relaxing music.

I will be writing a review and posting photos soon.. be on the look-out. :D

Did anyone do this more recently? I was wondering how long the cruise is (time wise) and what to expect from the wine tasting.

I actually was captain for the wine cruise a number of times back in 2016. Special events on the boats were some of my favorite things to do (I usually came down to Rhine just to take the boats out for these, though they were not my primary location). We just went in circles around the lake for about 30-40 min. The tours department runs everything from the guest perspective, in which they bring out a variety of wines as well as cheese, crackers, and other snacks. Usually, a duo from entertainment provided the live music for the trip. This is how it was back then and I don't see how it would be any different, but it is possible that it has changed slightly since then.

The cruise time is still 30-40 minutes. They don't use live music anymore as the boats really aren't big enough. You pick 3 wines and then they are served to you as you finish them. The wine is paired with a tray of food that consists of cheese, grapes, strawberries, nuts, and/or chocolate. The Tours Department still does everything except captaining the boat although all Tour Guides that do the cruises are trained to be captains. If you have any questions feel free to PM me.

I do this yearly. My big fun 'outsider perspective' thing is taking my mom and her husband to BGW during Food & Wine. We typically do this at about 2:30 in the afternoon and it's an absolutely perfect break to the grind of the park and lines. Plus it's so quiet.

Noted. The girlfriend would love this, and my brother in law loves coasters, but my sister hates them. He’s been trying to find a way to make the trip enjoyable for her, and between Food and Wine and this, we might have a chance...
