Saw this article about construction of the first alpine coaster in North Carolina, looks like it's close to the NC/TN border between Boone and Asheville. Anybody have any experience with these rides? Article has a POV as well.

Alpine coasters are great. They are a lot of fun, unless you apply the brakes, or get stuck behind someone else who does.

I did one in Colorado and thoroughly enjoyed it! I loved being able to control your speed, even though I didn’t use the brakes at all

If its unnecessary to apply the brakes, why do they have brakes? Seems like they just ruin the fun.

Some people feel too out of control without them, I think? I was trapped behind a couple once, who were breaking all the way down the track.

More importantly, you need a way to stop your car at the bottom, and along the course, if something happens.
