So I know someone very close and I wanna take them to the park with me at some point, but she seems to have a low enough blood pressure to where she gets dizzy almost every time she gets up, so I rly don’t wanna cause any harm to her by getting her on smthg she can’t handle. I know that most of y’all aren’t doctors, but what stuff do y’all reckon would be good for that if any?

I have issues with dizziness , too. Thomas is pretty much right. Any rollercoaster gives me problems when I would get off. I gave up several years ago. I just do the shows and enjoy the atmosphere. If you're going during Mardi Gras they have special entertainment. Whatever you decide, don't set you expectations too high.

Your friend has to be careful. Even the walk from Ireland to France can very strenuous for many people. That hill is misleading and can have a significant effect on those with medical issues. Heart Attack hill is a completely separate problem, and don't confuse the two.

Have your friend talk with a doctor before a visit.

As my friends and I call the path from Heatherdowns to Rhinefeld- the Stairs of Death and the Hill of Dispair.

It could be that something that raises blood pressure is no problem, but I don't know. More likely the big issue is what she would even want to try.

There is so much variability to these conditions.

I get really dizzy all the time when I stand up after sitting for a little while. Bracing against walls, loss of vision, worrying about slipping out of consciousness for some period of time before it all starts to subside again. Doctors say that's just my life with low blood pressure. But I can ride roller coasters all day with little to no trouble. One difficulty doesn't always portend the other.

Of course it's best to be cautious, as everyone is different. And accordingly the list of suitable rides for your friend will vary from mine or anyone else's. It can be difficult to guess accurately in advance.

So if (and only if) your friend is up for the experiment - as she probably has a sense for whether or not this is a good idea for her to try in the first place - then she might take one spin on little Grover with its limited positive Gs in that figure 8, and assess from there. Pending her enthusiasm, consider potentially stepping up to Invadr. Anything dicey or iffy means it's time to stop. The list of rides she's good with may turn out to be longer than either of you expect.

In fact it may be that standing up to exit the coaster train after the ride ends is a bigger issue than the rest of the ride experience. Voice of experience.

Generally, just take your time. Busch Gardens is fantastic to slow down. Take everything in at her pace. Even at the hills, you can just take your time. Out of any park, I’d suggest BGW for a “take it all in” time. Clearly, you care, so just let your care show.

I’d simply trust her opinion on what challenges she wants to take on, what her history is with thrill level, if she is interested in going (assuming it’s not a surprise). Of course she’s living regularly with these feelings, so it’s up to her.

I’ll be the unpopular opinion here and not recommend the default “talk to the doctor” phrase. She already knows herself better than any doctor ever will. Trust her senses before and during the visit!

This thread is going off-topic and is responding to a post from a year ago.
speaking of responding to a post from a year ago, I might as well add some overdue notes lol

ok so it turns out that her blood pressure isn't literally so low that she passes out every time she gets up, but it's still pretty low. I also learned it's bcuz of her OCD medication, so idk how safe it'd be to take blood pressure enhancers with that
Would be interested to hear from OP how this went, though!
she still hasn't come over from where she's from (had plans to come over earlier this month as part of a road trip with friends but that couldn't bare out unfortunately), but we plan on meeting up in the summer. what we might do is focus more on low intensity stuff and take her along the best themed and prettiest queues for the bigger stuff and have her walk over to the exit side as I rode with my mom (I used to just walk through the queue and then cross over to the exit when I was younger cuz I was too scared to ride stuff while still being fascinated by them lol)
honestly theme parks usually aren't her thing cuz of her low blood pressure but BG interested her cuz of the theming and nature, so that's why we plan on going at all
