So, uh, apparently you can "snap" the swings on Wave Swinger like on a flying scooter. This is the only swing ride I've ever been able to accomplish this on, and it's sort of terrifying (but in a really fun way).
By extending your legs like a rudder, you can catch enough wind to actually twist your swing completely outward or even backwards with no effort. Then, by quickly recoiling your legs, the chains "snap" and your seat dives down and inward, creating a sudden and slightly unsettling "dropping" sensation.
It's the exact same kind of snap you can achieve on a good flying scooter ride, but even more thrilling because it's just you, a flimsy chair, and the wind. And since it's so easy to twist yourself completely backwards, you can gain an insane amount of momentum for some truly massive "snaps."
This is the only wave swinger I've ever been able to snap like this. Der Wirbelind at Busch Gardens, for example, has an extra connection at the top of the chains, and also a rubber "stopper," presumably to prevent the exact twisting and snapping that Kyle, TPF, and I were performing on Wave Swinger today.
But the attendant never yelled at us during the three times we tried it, so until I get yelled at, I'm going to continue "snapping." It's a really thrilling sensation you can't find at many parks.
