OK.  So, I know Walkabout Way doesn't fit the Africa theme.  I get that.  It is still my favorite animal exhibit in the park.  It is our first stop in the morning, because we want to be there when the kangaroos and wallabies are hungry and active.

For those who don't know, Walkabout Way has kangaroos behind a fence, and wallabies who pretty much hop wherever they please.  You can (and should) buy food for them.  They are happy to be petted, in exchange for food.  That said, the last time we visited, there was one joey who just wanted to be scratched; he wasn't interested in food at all.

So everyone can see how adorable these marsupials are, here are some pictures of us feeding them:

So earlier this month we got an opportunity to bottle feed kangaroos!

For those who don't know, at 11:15 each day they sell bottles of diluted apple juice to guests to feed the kangaroos. When we were there the park had ten bottles available, but that can change depending on how many roos can have the juice. The feeding started for joeys, but BGT has continued to allow guests to bottle feed the kangaroos, as they have matured. I so wanted to feed a baby roo! But alas, they were too grown up.  Still, it was really cool.

Nicole, a friend of ours (Natasha), and I all fed the kangaroos. The keepers would get the roos to start on the bottle and then hand it off for us to hold, until they finished. Natasha had a roo that wanted you to hold her paws, while she was drinking.  It was soooo cute! I got to hold the roo's hands too! Below are some pictures.
