Hello, visiting KD this weekend for the first time in 2 years. Mostly for coaster rides.

I have a few questions I am hoping to get some help with.

1.) Park is listed to open at 10:30am, do they still open the front part (and Dominator) early?

2.) What is the best ride order / plan now with Volcano down? Twisted Timbers first?

3.) Any decent food options around the park? Wasn't impressed with in-park food last time I visited.

4.) Anything else new / different that I should check out?

Thanks so much for the help, tips, and feedback!

1. Yes! International Street opens at 10.

2. My plan is always to hit Twisted Timbers (and sometimes Apple Zapple after that) first, then cross over into Safari Village and hit the coasters there as always.

3. My favorites are Border Burrito for surprisingly good Mexican food, Country Kitchen which has large portions and fresh options, Pizza Parlor (the one on International Street, NOT Victoria’s in Candy Apple Grove), and The Mac Bowl.

4. Make sure you check out Grand Carnivale, which has great international food and even better international entertainment all over International Street, starting at 5pm. There’s also a huge parade starting at 8 which shouldn’t be missed, and fireworks.

Add Outer Hank's if you get the shrimp basket, and only then. You'll probably have to ask for slaw and sauce and you you may or may not get a hush puppy. Lots of things are hit and miss so look before you leap. Also 10 PM > 10 AM. Carnivale gets a mini-fireworks show, from the Volcano site I think.

Here's how I would personally hit coasters if the park is busy:
  1. Dominator
  2. Twisted Timbers
  3. Flight of Fear
  4. Intimidator
  5. Backlot
  6. Racer
  7. Grizzly
  8. Anaconda
  9. Avalanche

If it's not busy, maybe wait on Twisted Timbers because it is faster in the afternoon after it gets going. It can sometimes be sluggish in the morning. I always hit Dominator first though because it almost always has the longest line.

I thought the fireworks looked like they were closer to the front of the park this year! Interesting that they’re already getting use out of that plot of land.

Dominator always has a long line at opening when I've been, because it's the first coaster everyone comes to and they get in line. I don't really have a suggested order, though. I usually go to Twisted Timbers first (and try to ride it again later). Intimidator you can ride whenever you want. That rarely has a long wait. Grizzly is best at night and often has no or almost no line then. We've gotten to just stay on it a few times, which is a great way to finish your day.

the one caveat to Grizzly is if is running only one train. They it is like a slow crawl.

Fortunately @Turbo said they’re visiting on a weekend, when Grizzly is almost always running both trains.
