New permit was filed today with Hanover County for the addition of a bar and extension of the roof in the back of Victoria's, and a new patio built on top of the existing bathhouse.

People have previously posted that the General Manager had been advocating for a patio extension for the new Biergarten area, and a patio was even hinted at last year during Victoria's larger renovation. Instead, International Street got the new Biergarten area, but according to today's filing, it appears Bridget is getting her way, at least in some form! Not exactly sure how the roof extension/bar area will look, but it will be a very exciting addition either way!

Do you think corporate is starting to give additional money to Kings Dominion for upgrades, after the initial ride purge? The filings of these restaurant and merchandise locations renovations is exciting, but the timing is strange, being 2 weeks away from opening, and filings like this surely wouldn't be filed now if the work wasn't going to start until next offseason.

As another collective update on this project (where scroll to the end for the real update)...

By weekend of May 3 and 4, this was the progress; where it looks like they may have been working to further improve the bathhouse's roof seals:

By weekend of May 10 and 11, no notable progress:

But here on the weekend of May 17 and 18, the project is really coming along nicely:

Here on Saturday May 17, there was a crew of at least half a dozen people working on it. I'm not sure if it's feasible for them to finish by next weekend, Memorial Day. But it seems they're really pushing to get this one opened sometime soon.

It's open!

For the new entrance I love how they put the path, framed right between the two trees:

And just, wow...

And the new bar inside Victoria's itself - where if you look close on the right-hand side of the image, I appreciate how they kept some of the seating near the windows, still allowing some of the existing indoor tables to share the great view looking out:

Overall, what a great addition for the park; where given its proximity to Soak City's entrance, giving the water park its first true bar (where the 'Sand Bar' food truck does not quite count), where this one can operate year-round.

Otherwise I can't wait to checkout the patio at night, under the lights, and admire the view.

Amazing! I love the old-fashioned signage too — nice to see KD sticking with that aesthetic for Victoria’s. Also looks to be what I think is a reference to the restaurant’s original name, Victoria Gardens.

As a most welcome addition here during this (stifling hot) summer, the new patio has recently received shade canopies across most of its width.

And though it wasn't posted earlier. Note the planter boxes, originally added last month, back in June, also helping enhance the look of the space.

As a minor (yet odd) change to the new patio, all the Adirondack lounge chairs have been moved to the far corner:

And all the tables (which of note "were" rather family-friendly) have been replaced with a variety of new bistro-style tables:

So table-space has increased rather dramatically; which I assume is in aim to support the new bar just inside.

But none-the-less, it's interesting to see the continued attention to this new patio throughout this season, and what it evolves into.

I could be wrong, but I believe the picnic-esque tables that were there were purchased last year and used for the food and wine festival in Old Virginia (August) and Oktoberfest in CAG (Sep-Oct).

The wine festival isn’t happening this year, and I think it’s too early to be prepping for Oktoberfest. My guess though is that the tables being there was always a temporary measure until the final furniture was ordered. Similar to how when the VIP lounge first opened it had temporary furniture until the final furniture arrive months later.

I loved the wine festival and wish it wasn’t axed though.
