There's a statue in the park. You know the one.

Now...my question is:

If I make a complaint about it, do you think the park would do something? If they did, on a scale of 1-10, how mad would you get?

Discuss. Both my proposal, and the broader issues of the naked statue, in general.

RE: The naked woman

That would be 11.

Now watch, they'll "improve" the park and get rid of the statue and you'll think it was me and ban me and I will have had nothing to do with it.

 You're so right.

If it gets removed, you'll get promoted. That should scare 'em! :p

I really don't care. I've seen worse statues (not in parks) and I never really pay attention to it. If they got rid of it I would say," Oh, that's sad. On to Apollo?"

I don't have one actually. I think it's cool actually that they haven't, to this point, gone all PC and covered up what is really, in my opinion, nothing to be ashamed of.

It just occurred to me that some people might have a problem with it, so I thought "what would happen if I said something?" Just out of curiosity.

Giving up my pass is a bit extreme, but needless to say, I'd be hopping mad. I think the entire fountain, including the Adolphus Busch profile, should never be altered, as it's one of the last remaining bastions of the AB era. Putting the black veil on for HOS is acceptable, but I never want to see it go away entirely.

It is art. Plain and simple. Haven't some of you been to European countries like France or whatever? This is pretty standard fare. Fits in very nicely. And if some little innocent kids learn something about anatomy because of it, well, there are far worse things on public TV, video games, etc., not to mention the Internet!!

Indy, that is kinda disturbing. lol
I wonder if you would say the same thing about Dragon's Lair:

Depends on your complaint.

If your complaint is that it's too flat chested, and they made it more busty, I'm right there with you, brother.

If your complaint is that it is naked, and they covered it up, I'd be disgusted.

But in all seriousness, if BGW is supposed to reflect the character of Europe, nude art objects should be everywhere. I still remember my first trip to Germany. Topless women are common in both TV and print advertising. Nude statuary is common in public spaces. It's literally everywhere. It's no joke that Europeans are less hung up on nudity taboos than Americans.

^Ehh, I just see that as special event decor. They changed the theme for Festa, but I don't expect them to really change the theme anytime soon.
