sometimes markers for underground utilities are just markers for underground utilities. If they are demolishing an above ground roller coaster I don’t see why they would need to mark anything, especially in the ground surrounding it.
Disconnection of utilities comes to mind.

New Jersey has required utility location but there’s no 811 system like other states have.

The work is buried in the permit site somewhere if/when it is applied for. I hated using Jackson's system because usually it involved having to go in in-person and see the documents. Since I live out of state now there's no way they'll grant any requests I send so if someone happens to live in Ocean County and has some free time on Tuesdays: Planning & Zoning | Jackson Township, NJ

This is untrue, every state has a one call/811 system. Only Virginia has public records of tickets though.

I am planning on making a trip up Friday evening half day at the park returning Saturday night to get the credit.

That said I did see an interesting point raised which was that the company spent time talking about cost saving measures in the earnings call but didn't mention Ka at all. It would seem that not mentioning closing a destroying a icon element of the company might actual rise to the level of something you would be required to disclose to investors especially if it ends up having negative repercussions to next year's attendance.

I found a screenshot of the 400ft Mack Spinner concept that they sent out in surveys a couple of months ago.

I know this isn't entirely related to the topic of the thread, but do they really think this is a good replacement for Ka? That's actually embarrassing if so, that or they just don't care.

^^-- anything descending 400' without brakes is a potential replacement. A 400' spinner sounds like a joke though.

If they're closing Ka because of Falcon's -- to ANY extent -- now is horribly premature. Ka currently has its record back as world's fastest operating coaster and may still be after whatever they're doing to Formula Rossa (LSMs?). Intamin may find out that Zamperla isn't the only ones to find extra problems when coasters exceed 100 MPH for more than a few seconds. They could put up a display at Ka showing its current world record status, changing daily.

Videos show the Zumanjaro sign has been removed, but I don't agree that it must go if Ka closes. It could need a better, possibly relocated sign, or just kept out the weather until it reopens in '28.

Anyway, the current rumor status is far better for those who really care to get their last rides, except for not really believing it. There could still be time to let the mobs know too. But they can't really announce they're going to run it until it fails inspection and they're out of spare parts. I normally go this next weekend every year so hopefully they hold off announcing anything until after that.

The general public probably will have a good reaction to a suitable replacement, they're more interested in "new" than merely preserving the incredible.

How are the crowds usually?
Better than summer but very dependent on weather. Pretty sure at least Sun. is BAFF, but as a SFA member I had to ask somebody. This year they're only going 'til 7, that last hour was a ghost town. Couldn't get a back row on JD because couldn't fill a train. Also rode Ka in about 38 degrees. One of the first times I went, it opened mid-afternoon and I heard blowtorches were involved.

Why would there be a marker in the station if they are demoing it? Wouldn't they demolish it and then put down markers? Or how does this work?

They probably plan on reusing the station, or at least keeping it intact.

They have that marker to get data at that area at that specific elevation that the station lies on. This is necessary as the station is higher than ground level, and they need the specific numbers to plan in/around this area.

I didnt believe the rumors at first but now its pretty clear from the data received from the station markings that these markings are likely being used to draw up how the replacement will interact with the station.

Is Ka closed for the season or if I go this weekend will I get a chance to ride it still?
