All this talk of cost cutting and down sizing today is putting us in some pretty frightening conceptual territory. With EitA out in Ireland, and Celtic Fyre soon to go, too, some are speculating that Ireland will become an attractionless walk-through. And what of Festa Italia? These boards are rife with talk of how dead that place is. So it got me thinking:

What might become of Busch Gardens after all this cost-cutting and downsizing? What would a minimized park look like?

Closed:
- Escape From Pompeii (duplicate water ride, more expensive than Le Scoot to maintain)
- All of Festa Italia (minus the queue for Apollo)
- Rhinefeld and Land of the Dragons (waste of space, LoD is duplicate kids' area)
- All of New France (minus path to Le Scoot and Trapper's)
- All rides/shows in Killarney
- Rhine River Cruises and pathway between Scotland and now-defunct Rhinefield.
- Entwined (too expensive)

I may do some photoshop later on this stuff.

I dont think they would go this far before selling BG but it would be very weird walking around the park without all those attractions.

I don't know that it's going to happen...it's not even likely. I just heard the EitA news, then watched some youtube videos of abandoned theme parks and thought of this, haha.

I love watching videos of the abandoned six flags in New Orleans. I wish I could go there, but it's illegal. Oh well. Back to topic.

Adding to your list:

Closed
- Skyride (duplicate transportation system that only services center of park, less reliable than train, and leads to Rhinefeld, which is defunct)
- Loch Ness Monster (too old!)
- Wild Reserve (everyone knows Busch Gardens is all about the coasters! Plus, less cost to maintain)
- Mach Tower (do we really need to explain why?)
- Parking lot trams (Kings Dominion makes people walk to the entrance, so why should Busch Gardens have to pay for extra staffing and maintenance?)
- Da Vinci's Garden of Inventions (unreliable, relatively unpopular flats and extra maintenance)
- Highland Stables (again, no need for animals ~ plus, takes up a lot of space in the Nessie-less Heatherdowns

I will continue to add to my list. I am joking...but to an extreme extent, this is where the park is headed.

If the stables go.. I would heartbroken. :s In a down time at the park, I LOVE to walk and see the Clydes. Gives me peace and serenity. Them having the animals is something that I do believe the park has always had. That, I believe would just not make the park unique anymore. It would just seem like a cement park like an hour or so west. :-/ JMO.

Honestly, they better damn NOT shutdown the skyride. BGW is one of the few remaining theme parks that still has one and we've got a VERY rare three-station config....Know anywhere else that has one like us?

Gonna be pissed if they get rid of that.

If they shut down another ride because of $$$$, then it's going to be Mach Tower. Because the amount of maintenance they preform on this thing probably costs a lot of $$$. Plus that eliminates $$$ they have to pay to operate it.

^Well, as we've discussed before, it looks bad for their image if they have to close a headliner attraction after two years.
