I visited Six Flags Great Escape for opening day, May 17, 2025. The weather was forecasted to be thunderstorms however, it ended up being a very beautiful day at the park. I am posting pictures from the day with captions below. Some updates of note are the Comet trains, Flashback refurb, food lines, The Bobcat and general park observations. Enjoy!
The main entrance looking nice as always. Decked out with patriotic colored balloons and banners for upcoming memorial day.
A nice ADK carving of the park's mascot, Spruce the moose, in from of carousel funnel cakes. The sign is now 3D and looking great.
Outlaw looking sick and running great. It was about a 20 minute wait.
A-frame showcasing the little houses refurbishments. Most of the little houses have fresh paint and many have new siding and new wooden roof shingles.
Supernova. The center light fixtures on the main rotor are missing.
Had a great ride on the comet. This ride is running exceptionally well. 2 train walk-on.
The trains are indeed freshly painted, have new lap bars, seat belts and upholstery. The seat belts are unfortunately not auto retracting and there is 1 seat belt per individual seat (2 per bench) rather than the single seat belt straddling the middle divider.
The Bobcat was running great. 2 train ops. This is such a SMOOTH wooden roller coaster. I was thoroughly impressed by how comfortable and enjoyable the ride was.
Merch.
The homage to the bobsled is still set up
New food options at Chicken chalet. This location is also now set up cafeteria style. No "hand breaded" chicken strips though.
There were a couple new game stands in fest area and storytown that looked like this one.
New queue fencing in front of the fest area refill station.
Flashback update: the new train is on the track, new staircase and airgates are in place. The canvas top is back on the station again... fingers are still crossed that a permanent roof comes with this refurb later in the season.
Not running yet, but will be in the "coming weeks".
New ADAA handicap accessible elevator shaft.
Newly painted sasquatch sign.
Hurricane Grill, the new restaurant over at the great escape lodge. Hurricane Grill is a chain with many of its locations in CA and FL. This restaurant is actually a gem, the waitstaff are great, the wings are awesome (especially the goldrush sauce) they even have an interior / exterior bar! A huge improvement from the former Jonny Rockets.
So that was my day. 7 out of 10, as good as I could expect opening day to be
