Despicable Me - Rumor - (10/15/12) A notice has been posted backstage to Universal Hollywood crew members that they will be saying, “Hasta La Vista!” to Terminator 2: 3-D. The final performance will take place on December 31st, 2012. While it’s Judgement Day for Arnold and crew at the “Battle Across Time” show, the theater itself is expected to be put to use as the new home for Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem, a rather quite 3D simulator adventure attraction that first opened at the Orlando park in mid-2012.

I can't wait for them to replace T2 at USO. what a boring section of the park. Wouldn't even go that way if it wasn't for Horror Make Up Show.

This. T2 was great for its time but, well, its time has passed.

Dont get mme wrong... i wont be shedding huge tears over it`s "hasta la vista". But, i honestly think despicable me is a sorry replacement for an anchor attraction like that if the rumor holds and truth.

I've heard Despicable will be great. But what do I know?

It should replace it with something else "Iconic". Arnold holding a shotgun wearing sunglasses is iconic... Minions are a flash in the pan.

I think making a ride off of an R rated movie is not the best idea. Doesn't send the right message to families, which, make up the majority of park attendance outside of HHN. On another note, the movie was iconc, not the ride. unfortunately, Universal seems to have decided to change their ride approach from iconic, to new. the rides are great, the movies they are based off of are not. Look at Mummy, Awful franchise, great ride. then look at the last 3 major rides they have replaced(with the exception of Jimmy) JAWS, King Kong, and Back To the future. All of those were Iconic rides based off of Iconic movies. Not the case anymore. King Kong was replaced by Mummy(great ride, Awful franchise), Back to the future was replaced by The Simpsons(A TV show, Not relevant in a movie park). And JAWS will be replaced by Harry Potter( Iconic movies/books, but not a Universal movie like the ride it replaced.)

One last note, Universal should stop using other movie studios movies for rides. They have one Universal movie in the entire 2 parks. That's E.T. The rest are other movie studios( Warner Bros, Dream works, Columbia, and even Disney!) Either Universal needs to make better movies or start using their movies in their rides.

EDIT: Jurassic Park is a Universal picture as well. So that makes 2.

Universal has found the benefits to creating attractions based upon proven franchises that they did not put their own dollars to risk. I agree Uni needs to stop making stinkers but unlike DIS they have not prided and touted their parks as solely their products or something that they helped evolve. I completely understand the reasoning why they are building like they are.

Before people bash Despicable they need to experience it.
