Here is the entire press release for this summer’s Entertainment. I’m honestly speechless at the amount of things there are to do this summer! It’s so big that I thought it deserved its own thread. I’ll share my full breakdown later today. More info will be released at 10am through a blog post on the park’s website.

(May 4, 2026) — Kings Dominion is redefining summer fun with a dramatically expanded and reimagined entertainment lineup for Summer 2026, turning live entertainment into a true centerpiece of the guest experience. Announced earlier this spring and thoughtfully refined through direct guest insights, leadership conversations and fan engagement, including a focus group with Six Flags President and CEO John Reilly and Kings Dominion Park Manager Jennifer Schofield, the revised lineup reflects a simple but powerful goal: deliver more of what guests love and elevate every visit with unforgettable moments.

Daytime Performances: Strike Up the Bandstand – June 27 through Aug. 9
During the day, a high‑energy five‑piece band featuring regional and local talent delivers two distinct sets. Family Magic with Peanuts™ – Daily

This is legitimately an insane amount of entertainment investment for Kings Dominion.

Jury is out on whether that's a good thing or not though if you ask me. There's obviously a ton to like here, but I do question if this volume of entertainment is justified by the park's current audiences and/or if Kings Dominion has the marketing will/dollars/know-how to actually capitalize on entertainment products to bring in new faces.

Hopefully this bodes well for Haunt and maybe even a WinterFest return though? Surely you don't debut a Summer entertainment slate this robust without significant seasonal entertainment allocations as well? Not the thread for that, but it did definitely come to mind.

Curious about this new Jungle X show. Very curious about the water parade. Always thrilled to see the Clown Band back. Very glad to see fireworks and drones, even if it is a year late. A new Cirque Imagine will be super interesting—been a while. I like the lineup—don't get me wrong—I'm just not convinced it's wise.

I’m very surprised at all of this, but pleasantly so. It really feels like the park/corporate knows that they fumbled the ball hard last season for the 50th anniversary and they are trying to correct course. I hope this really pays off.

One thing that could be easily missed: they are adding American-themed decor to honor the 250th anniversary of the country in Old Virginia for the entire summer. I really like this return to attention to detail.

It sucks that we didn't get the Drone & Fireworks Spectacular last year for the 50th but better late than never. Can't wait for summer to roll around and experience all the entertainment. The Rhythm of the Wild show has some big shoes to fill. Let's Get Wild might be the greatest regional show I've ever seen.

I really hope this goes well for them, I feel like if KD gets good shows back then it will really help them compete with BGW better. I feel like attendance has been up this year and last year so I hope this is enough to bring even more people to KD.

This is exciting news. I really believe “quantity over quality” is the correct approach for Kings Dominion entertainment. The park simply can’t compete with the caliber of BGW’s shows, and I don’t know if KD’s audience even wants a bunch of big-budget productions like BGW. I think people just want to experience live music and fun diversions as they move about the park.

Winterfest did this perfectly, in my opinion. No single show held a candle to Christmas Town’s headliner shows, but the park just felt alive with performances around every corner. I’m excited to see that kind of energy come to the main season this summer.

I’m certainly glad to see it. This has been one of my critiques of KD in recent years is how empty the path ways can feel some days and how it doesn’t feel like there’s a ton going on in some areas. This should help with that significantly.

I really love how they cited the focus group as a reason they’re bringing the shows back. It shows that they really are listening to them, and for what it’s worth, more shows was one of the two big things that the focus group set out to mention during that conference.

The second big thing was bringing back WinterFest. If they accomplish that along with keeping the quality of shows high this summer, you’re going to have a ton of happy guests in your corner.

In addition, I’ve heard rumblings that Haunt entertainment is going to be amped up a lot this year in response to that meeting. This should be a very good year for entertainment.

I was wondering this last year when a drone/firework show was originally planned for the 50th anniversary. There was no way they were going to cut the trees down around iStreet, and I wasn't even sure where they could store/launch drones from (KI uses Vortex's former plot, which is why I still think it'll be a while till a coaster ends up there).

I thought last year that with Anaconda gone, viewing drones/fireworks over Lake Charles would be amazing. They could even cut down a few trees between the lake and Racer 75 (repainted or not) and use colored lights on the wooden supports in time to the music, which could be a cool backdrop.

The hiring call from Windish Entertainment mentions KD's mainstage show occurring right before "Ignite the Night" so I assume, they would use the same crowd space as a viewing point, as opposed to KI's much larger and more open front entry way. With this is mind, they may close off the back part of the parking lot and launch fireworks/drones from there, so you are standing between ET and mainstage but facing the park entrance to view?

It would stink not having the lighted ET as a backdrop, and they probably could have drones off the side above the backstage area behind the HR and first aid, but I'm not really sure what rules are in place flying drones directly over people (I assume you can't).

Any other thoughts? It'll be interesting to see the solution either way.

I think it’s great. They’re going full bore with live entertainment. There needs to be attractions at the park for people that don’t like thrill rides.


However, it’s a shame they’re investing in a strong entertainment lineup without investing in some decent entertainment venues first.

The live entertainment at Kings Dominion usually fails because people are forced to watch most of it in the heat and standing up. Lets Get Wild was a great production, but the venue was absolutely terrible for the audience and the performers.

I don’t understand why they dont utilize the stadium. But even with that the park needs more sit down entertainment venues.

I think KD doesn't utilize Kingswood because it's too detached from the rest of the park infrastructure - You need to staff that many more custodial/security/entertainment personnel (there is a lot more than goes into a show beyond the performers), and it's also so far off of the beaten path which would deter attendance at a recurring-throughout-the-day type show. I mean, just the other day someone here was suggesting eliminating the path that runs between Dominator and Camp Snoopy and leads directly to Kingswood, because it's just that remote.

Agree, and I also have read in the past by technicians that the infrastructure of the staging and overhangs makes it very complicated and almost impossible for modern sound and lighting equipment. I think the entire stage would need to be rebuilt to bring it to the 21st century, and with no guarantee that the ROI would make it worthwile AND limited funds already, it just makes no sense. If there was ever a year to try it, it would have been this year with shows down the street being cancelled, but that was pretty sudden a few months ago and I assume too late for KD to have made strategic choices to take advantage even if they wanted to.

Someone mentioned early in the season it looked like they replaced the seats in Kingswood, but I think the seats were just more easily visible from Reptilian before the trees grew back in.

Agreed about the lack of venues (and aging ones). CF said years ago flat out that they were not in the entertainment business. The largest parks in their portfolio at the time like Knotts made too much sense not to have venues, but otherwise most of CF's portfolio inherited venues from when their parks were under previous ownerships. Paramount destroyed or neglected the few that KD had, and that's just how it's been since CF bought it. Heck, look at the one indoor theater and all the problems it had last year with the bubble show. The seats in the theater are too steep, no railings on walkways, too slippery, challenges back stage as well.

It's a cycle that entertainment fails in small part because venues aren't great, but they don't modernize venues because entertainment fails. Maybe if this summer proves to be an entertainment success (and it doesn't get sold off) maybe the park can invest in modernizing or redoing ONE venue and go build upon that.

I think Let's Get Wild had the right idea in theory, as being on the midway (and not off the beating path) drew in crowds that otherwise were just walking by, but even then it blocked the path and seating was minimal and temporary. Take those lessons and apply them to a permanent venue, even if it's small in Jungle X, and you have something more sustainable and inviting.

By the stadium, i meant the former Aqua Arena in Planet Snoopy. I forget what it is called now. They would rather have the performers and audience out in the hot beating sun than use that venue. Lets Get Wild would have worked fine there, except for the arrival in the Jeep.

My bad. I do think they use that stadium for music/dance in the parks each spring, possibly for awards ceremonies, but perhaps I'm wrong.

From what I've seen of that stadium it is farely outdated with open air seats where things can easily fall through (not ideal for family shows). It has also always been strange that it faces the wrong direction, with the stage and backstage next to the midway. It really needs to more akin to KI's or the former SFA's where the audience side is closest to the midway and passersby see a production going on and stop to watch for a few minutes.

At this point they should tear it down, and replace it with something more visible from the midway. It's also so close to the main stage, and directly in line with the only real parade route in the park, so if anything, tear it down and put a venue elsewhere in the park that better spreads out entertainment offerings. Back in the day, having a dolphin show there was unique compared to every other show, so it didn't matter how close it is to the main stage.

I disagree about LGW going there though, because the whole point was that it tied so thematically well to Jungle X.

Something like 10 years ago, KD accidentally released blueprints for a small theater that would have been built in Safari Village (Jungle X) where the Jungle Market Eatery outdoor patio currently is. Obviously it was never built.

I did notice this season that KD never brought back the tables that are usually in that patio — they removed them for Haunt when the Site X scare zone was moved there last year.

They of course won’t build a theater there now, but I wonder if they’ve considered putting a show there? They could easily install a shade structure over it, and wouldn’t have the crowd flow issue of putting a show in the middle of the path like Let’s Get Wild. And the defined boundaries of the patio would make it feel like a more intentional show venue, even if it has nothing more than a shade structure with a small stage and maybe some benches.
