RE: Project 2016: Twisted Twins

Coaster Chit Chat has an awesome photo update of work being started on Twisted Twins!

They also note that Ed Hart stated an announcement would be made in late July for Twisted Twins.

So no dueling RMC...bummer.

Although I know KK is on a contingent budget this whole project seems rather lackluster.

I actually think the project looks stellar. Very excited to see it come together.

I was thinking the same thing. 'lackluster' compared to what? A free floppy Batman ride? A daredevil launching 6th floor elevator experience? I see nothing lackluster about a barrel rolled initial drop airtime machine with a vast layout built by RMC.

I think the name and logo probably fall into the "lackluster" category and the promo video is complete garbage; but, I'm super enthused about the selection of elements and the layout. It looks like it packs some RIDICULOUS negative Gs over some of those hills and the inversions look tight and forceful while still flowing nicely with the rest of the layout. I'm waiting for someone to put together an HD, 60FPS, NoLimits 2 version of the promo video, but what I see looks brilliant.

I am underwhelmed. I dislike rolls and inversions during drops as, in my experience, the change in direction destroys the drop. Not the ride for me.

It's not only a budget issue but the park doesn't have a lot of space for RMC to create a decent size dueling coaster. The footprint is tiny.

RE: Project 2016: Twisted Twins

Well I am excited. I'm not sure what they will try and classify this thing as. I really don't think this can be called a Hybrid, steel track, steel super structure, wooden cross beams. Can we call this RMC's first steel coaster?

On the name topic, Kentucky Kingdom seems to like weather related phenomenon for their coaster names. Thunder Run, Lightning Run, Storm Chaser. They really could use better names... They should consider hiring a professional that. There are companies out there that their sole purpose is to come up with awesome names.

Here's a fan made NL2 POV video of the ride.  It shows how the coaster will sit in relation to other nearby rides like Thunder Run.  They really squeezed this in nicely.

It is weird. That type of structure looks like art to me, when it is made out of wood, but feels like some dystopic torture device in steel. Am I the only one who thinks it somehow seems menacing?

Testing has been going well for Storm Chaser the last few days. The ride should be ready to go once the park opens for the season in a few weeks!
