RE: Brauhaus Craft Bier Room Coming to Festhaus Kaffe in 2016

I do not believe you get a Pass Member discount on either the stein or the beer.  My understanding is that the Stein Club membership, including the stein, is $40, and after your first free beer, refills will be $5, regardless of your membership status.

That said, I could be misinterpreting the information we have received thus far.

Looks like I'll be purchasing a stein for sure, that beer list is above and beyond. A ton of amazing VA breweries involved in this, can't wait!!

Apparently the demand was so big that they ended up printing tickets. I was in line shortly after 11 and waited about 30 min or more before they told people they had no additional tickets. It was very poorly handled. Some angry, disappointed people left standing. We even asked if they would offer steins to take home and bring in for refills. They said no.

I was told they ran out of tickets by 1030 that should be completely unexceptble to only have enough to last 30 minutes for something that last all season long.

I did not expect so much demand. I decided not to visit today after the parade in Norfolk. Thank you horseboy and Bgwtheoldcountry for the updates. Hopefully this is very successful for BGW and will grow. Imagine if they brew their own beer how things will have come full circle!

Have a great Passholder Day everyone!

I really hope they offer more steins. Even if they store them in the back somewhere.

If they add more mugs and my Parkfans compadres get them that is probably for the best that you didn't go through what we did today. We arrived at the park very early and got in line for the announcements. About 10:30 we decided to abandon line and make sure we got mugs. We arrived at the Festhaus and had about 120 or so adults in front of us. A Busch employee gave out tickets about 11:00 and we got one of the very few of the last tickets. He said they hadn't blocked the doors of the Festhaus early and a lot of people went in and got in line inside before we had arrived there. (I know they would have been before me anyway so that wasn't a problem.) If I hadn't gotten a ticket I would have been irritated that they didn't let the people outside know that had happened so that they wasted their time. A LOT of people behind me in line did just that and were very upset.

Once inside we waited about an hour and a half until we were processed (at the end of the line, though, remember.) The mug is very nice; and the investment in the season seems worth the trouble. A lot of people were very belligerent on not being able to acquire one. In any case we ate and drank and went to get a refill and with only about 20 people in front of us it took a half an hour to get a refill. I don't know if there was a problem with the register or dealing with unhappy people.

I know there will never be a time when all 300 mug holders are at the park at the same time. And, good for Busch there were many other people (without VIP mugs) just ordering craft beers from the 1 register taking orders and processing payments. If this area proves popular they are going to have to resolve whatever the register issue is or add more.

For what it is worth, I understand there were problems with the new registers elsewhere in the park, as well. They are new and the employees were still learning how to use them, I think.

So, hopefully, the lines will move more quickly in the Bier Room in the future.

One of the employees working at one of the registers for the Festhaus eateries had a problem with them as well. She said, "Yeah, these dang new systems, we are all trying to re-learn them. Sorry for the inconvenience."

From personal new POSS in the food industry tend to be buggy as hell for the first few weeks even when "fully" tested. It's just the nature of the beast give them time and you will never know the difference by the main season.

The problem I have is only 300 is just plain stupid. It's also a trend for the park who seems to constantly under estimate demand. What I find more alarming is they actually didn't underestimate the whole ticketing system indicates they KNEW there was going to be demand other wise they would have just had a get in line and buy one system in place.

RE: Brauhaus Craft Bier Room Coming to Festhaus Kaffe in 2016

I don't really have a good feel for the demand curve of the Craft beer in the Festhaus but I wasn't sure if the number of mugs was too small or the initial price was too low; my gut reaction was thinking the latter.

This proves that the sole purpose of Passholder Preview Day is used as a real-time training session for new and returning employees!
