Holy crap, this is HUGE. Assuming this trial goes well, every park should be jumping all over this hardware immediately. They can improve the guest experience and reduce staffing costs long-term with a simple hardware and software investment.

Still probably a ways off from being able to move exclusively to a plate-based system, but if a park can get adoption pretty high, i can envision a world where only a couple of booths would ever need to be staffed.

I’m curious if they will also automate the entrance to the preferred lot. I remember how that went for KD at the Gold Pass parking area.

This is awesome. Do pass holders already use this? If not I feel like they should do that asap.

So... what does this mean? "Pre-Purchase Online". Does this have an extra charge? If so that sucks. Hopefully they are just talking about paying for parking as normal, but to me it's unclear and this might have an extra charge sorta like fast lane for parking. Tell me I'm wrong.

I was gonna post that but I didn't want to single that poster out. At the same time though, this ranks as one of the most embarrassing posts I've seen online.

SFOT has turned the majority of their parking lot every lanes into Speedy entry. Meaning that pass members have to pay another $20 to use the lanes or wait in the 2 regular slow moving lanes.

This seems to be right in line with sleazy up charges that SEAS would do if they could if they had automated parking gates.

I got an email from Great Adventure, New England, Georgia, and America - so I am assuming this is chain wide; Speedy Parking is now free for passholders with parking!
This is what I expected when the program first was announced, to reduce staffing at the parking lot enterance.

I used one of the Speedy Parking lanes at Great Adventure today and it worked very well. Took about 5 seconds to identify my license plate and the gate swung right open.

The only issue was a lack of signage on approach detailing exactly what Speedy Parking entailed, specifically the need to enroll ahead of time. I was lucky to find an open lane, but several of the other lanes had lines that were a half dozen cars deep being held up by someone who hadn't registered their plate.
