Just got some info from a friend that worked at the park...

In Festa, the Gladiator's Gauntlet and Catapult along with the Spider (Die Schwarze Spinne) in Oktoberfest were all removed at the end of the 1992 season.

Also, the Flying Balloons ride was originally located where DaVinci's Cradle sits.

The challenge game that was the focal point of Threadneedle Fair when it opened was a log rolling contest. It didn't last long because the park removed it as it was considered dangerous.

Turvey Manor was the main fun house in Hastings when the park first opened and was changed years later into Shadow Room.

I had quite a giggle at them removing a game because it was considered dangerous. There are quite a few dangerous games, such as 3 Point in Festa. What happens if a basketball injures a guest? or baseball rebounds out of the break-a-plate game and hits a guest?

Interesting to know those rides were all in Festa. Kind of cool, any idea where the rides were located in Festa?

Gladiator's Gauntlet was located in the area where Apollo's gift shop sits. It was replaced by remote-controlled boats. Catapult was located in the Festa Games Tent/Arcade.

What was Gladiator Gauntlet exactly again? and So they had a pool there at one point in time for the RC boats? Did they redo the area for the arcade because I don't think the Catapult could fit into that area easily as it is now?

Gladiator's Gauntlet was a Vekoma Waikiki Wave. Yes, there was a pool in that spot for remote controlled boats. The park had a few RC attractions scattered throughout the park at one point.

And yes, the arcade area was redone a bit after Catapult was removed.

I actually rolled on my ankle when running from one shooting station to the other. It was after it was raining, so the ground was very slippery.

Luckily I'm not the type of guest who sues at every chance.

My face bought the end of the splash pool at WCusa when the Lemon Drop slides were still there. The lifeguard was pretty chill about it even though I needed like 4 stitches and was bleeding down the side of my head.

Hey just saying the games now are pretty dangerous.

EDIT: Do we have any pictures from the past related to any of this besides the one already posted?

Here's a link with a pic of former park performer Steven Ragatz. He was a juggler that performed at the park in 1984 and 1985.

In reading the rest of his bio you learn that he went on to perform with two Cirque du Soleil shows - Mystere in Las Vegas and the touring show Quidam.

Speaking of Quidam, this show will be playing The Ted at ODU in April. I can't wait to see it. It's one of their best shows!
