RE: [Maze] Slaughter House (2010 - Current)

Thank you Zack for guiding me here. And that you did I shall speak. I FORBID THE REMOVAL OF SLAUGHTERHOUSE! I FORBID IT I FORBID IT AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST I FORBID IT!!! This was my first ever Haunted maze and I will never forget that day. My father was with me and thought it would be funny to take off running and leave me alone, I was crying so hard untill the chainsaw... So the day I said my first cuss word at another individual. This is like the Rebel Yell of Haunt. Its the oldest and isn't even that bad compared to other mazes at the park. So guys please don't bash on the one maze I look forward to every year (and cornstalkers) it was a favorite and still is a favorite of mine. If it goes, a long letter will be written and I shall speak my words. Once again I FORBID THE REMOVAL OF SLAUGHTERHOUSE and people of mentioning THE REMOVAL OF SLAUGHTERHOUSE. Thank you, my case is settled

RE: [Maze] Slaughter House (2010 - Current)

This maze reminds me of Bitten. It's one of my favorites at KD, and is still vastly popular. However, just as many people probably really want it to leave. I can't say that I can argue with them either.

Much like Bitten, the house is reminiscent of an older/out-of-date style. In the early days of this house, the mentality was "Oh, just throw red paint on white walls. There, detail!" It just can't stand up to likes of newer, more-detailed houses (like No Vacancy).

I can imagine that we will probably see almost the entire house recycled in one way or another some day. Houses like this tend to live on for generations if you can remember them.

Zimmy..... You would be 100% correct in any case...... Except this isn't any case, this is Slaughterhouse were talking about here. Honestly, if somebody asked me what is the last thing you want to see go at KD, Slaughterhouse would be my last. Opening Friday of haunt every year for the past 6 years I sat in line for Slaughterhouse 30 minutes before it opened. Nobody would of course get in line till 5 minutes before haunt started, but I love it that much. Maybe I dont have the powers to keep it but for all you know I'm a witch with powers. What ya ganna do, burn me at the stake

RE: [Maze] Slaughter House (2010 - Current)

I never ever liked Slaughterhouse. Maybe the gross-out genre of "scare" they're going for in this maze just doesn't work for me. I always thought the sets in Slaughterhouse were much less impressive than in mazes like Doll Factory, No Vacancy, or even Lockdown. I'd pit Slaughterhouse even lower than its mediocre neighbor, Maze of Madness.

The maze always felt like it could have been helped with a good chainsaw scare, but supposedly due to an injury at another Cedar Fair park, the maze only used cheap toy chainsaws. With that missing, the only effective scares in the maze for me were the constant banging of metal utensils on metal countertops- which, in all fairness, could be startling if done right.

Other than that, I thought the maze was more humorously grotesque than anything else. Heck, constantly being whacked by the hanging carcasses of different animals' innards seems like a play from Howl-O-Scream's playbook. And while I appreciate the use of rock music for thematic effect, I think the rock music soundtrack just made everything feel cheesier.

I for one am not sad to see this maze go. But what do we think is replacing it? Rumors of a clown maze have been circling for a while now. The location, smack in the middle of Cleaver Brothers Carnival, would be a perfect fit for a clown maze.

Joe, lets not get ahead of ourselves buddy. Who said it was indeed getting removed? What point of me forbidding its removal dont yall understand?

RE: [Maze] Slaughter House (2010 - Current)

I agree with Joe. I passionately despise Slaughterhouse and have advocated for its removal for a couple of years. Admittedly it was better last season, but it is still only mediocre even at its best. One time the maze irritated me so much that I just walked through glaring at all of the poor actors; usually I am the perfect, screaming, easily "scared" guest.

I honestly don't care what they put in that spot; I just don't want to see Slaughterhouse in the 2016 Haunt line-up.

The entire point of it.

The Slaughterhouse building has been gutted. Usually, the only maze that gets taken down after the Halloween season is Maze of Madness (and to an extent Cornstalkers). Slaughterhouse was always left standing during the main season. The fact that the entire maze has been removed from the building makes me almost certain that Slaughterhouse is saying bye-bye for 2016.

Like most gross-out houses, it bores the hell out of me. Also really hot.

I wondering that they are replacing it with.

^^ really it almost looks like they needed the space for some type of meeting or something. Look at the chairs lined up in the back. I've heard of parks taking parts of mazes down so new staff can learn how to do such things. Training maybe?

RE: [Maze] Slaughter House (2010 - Current)

While I admire your resolve Grant, new houses are much better for advertisement than improved houses. I think it's safe to say that slaughter house is no more. Nothing official yet though so hold out hope if you like...

i dunno... I have seen some improv that could be counted as torture for the audience. Some of it was frankly freighting... This does kind of look like a cheep local black box theater set up....

Really is there anything scarier that cheep local black box theater presenting you cheap local amateur black box theater improv?

RE: [Maze] Slaughter House (2010 - Current)

Ive never heard KD advertise about a new haunted maze. Their advertising always consists of the creepy music followed by Holloween Haunt at KingsDominion. I think people just go to go, people are getting rides and haunt for a decent price so they are less likely to even care about whats new. I could care less if they added a new maze tbh, their lineup suits me just fine
