While Six Flags Over Georgia has been preparing to start vertical construction on Kid Flash: Cosmic Coaster for a 2023 opening, it seems the park could have another, larger, project in store for 2024 that's gone under the radar.

Within the last couple of weeks, a large amount of speculation has started to evolve around the near future of Six Flags Over Georgia and a potentially large project slated for 2024. This year, SFOG will debut their all-new "Coaster Fest" event on the 19th & 20th of August; as stated on the media flyer, this event is described as featuring "Exclusive ride time, Track walks, Behind the scenes tours, Catered meals, Commemorative gifts, A Rollercoaster 5k, PLUS, A SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT!". Alongside that, the QR code from this flyer brings you to the page regarding the event (website here) and uses statements such as "You definitely won’t want to miss this inside look at what we have planned FOR 2024!", and "special presentations and announcements from the Six Flags Over Georgia team".

Additionally, there were various users in The Unofficial Six Flags Over Georgia Discussion Group on Facebook who stated that they knew "A big secret about what's going to happen in 2024", as quoted by one member who got to meet and chat with Dave Zellner, the new park president of SFOG (If I recall correctly, he's previously worked at SF Magic Mountain and Discovery Kingdom). These users emphasized that this announcement also has nothing to do with Kid Flash or its opening.

I was a little hesitant to speculate about a new ride with just that information but held out a little hope; late August is typically when new major additions are announced / despite being somewhat notable, Kid Flash was teased by PR a single day before its announcement. At this point, I could only wait and wish for a sign of land/lot clearing to begin.

Sure enough, that wish came true!

Last Friday, a user in the Georgia Coaster Connection Discord server sent two photos of the long-defunct Splashwater Falls (shoot-the-chute water ride) and its water basin being torn out with an excavator. Multiple vehicles were spotted at the site throughout the last few days, with work on surveying and clearing underway at a rapid pace; this started where Splashwater's splash-down element and exit bridge once were. Additionally, a yellow string supported by metal stakes lines the entire perimeter of the old ride space (Does this mean anything important?). Splashwater has been closed since late 2016, with most of the ride structure being torn out around early summer of 2021; at the time, this led to intense speculation, only for the water basin and queue to remain standing for just over two years at this point. With ground broken after years of sitting and an announcement from the park being imminent, the stars are aligning too well for this to be a coincidence (in my opinion).

Is this going to be typical marketing over-hype from PR, or could one of Six Flags' major attractions be going to Over Georgia next year; if so, what model are you placing bets on coming to the park? I recall hearing that SF bought 3 raptors with the JDC/WWFOC layout; this would fit within the plot perfectly, but can't find a source for that purchase.

Just to be safe, this can't be the Skyline P’Sghetti Bowl slated to open this year, right? What is the status of that project? Has it gone vertical?

It is not, ground has already broken on the Skyline project but it's a slow roller construction wise.

The only reason I was asking is that the only public filing I can find for construction on SFOG property is a plan for the P’Sghetti Bowl filed about two months ago. Seemed crazy late for that to show up given how long ago it was announced, but Six Flags gonna Six Flags I guess.

I'll keep an eye out for anything new in the coming weeks.

Six Flags is in bad financial shape with lots of debt and decreasing profits due to the new CEO. I would only expect pitiful additions like this year.

Yes, but two things:
-Selim backpedaled on the "no new rides" thing, and redirected a lot of beautification money to build new attractions.
-They also haven't cancelled any deals that were already too far along, ala Aquaman and Diabolical. If they bought multiple Jersey Devils, as rumored, they might not have been able to cancel and get a refund.

Are my hopes particularly high? Not really, but who can say? Six Flags' game plan changes like Rochester NY weather, and we can experience all four seasons in a single week :V

^Do you have proof of ride hardware at SFOG? I was there yesterday, the site is in the least-progress state of any of the small coaster additions (SFFT, SFSTL, SFOG). Its just dirt, some tree stumps, and the leftover foundations of whatever occupied that area previously.

The train was shown off at the Melanin Coaster Network and the ACE Post-con events through June! All the components and hardware are currently in the back of the parking lot near the back end of Batman.

Also they can’t even get that little kiddy coaster installed a Georgia even though they’re false advertising summer opening.

Another reason I seriously doubt they are getting anything. Maybe they are just cleaning up the eyesore finally after all these years.

Maybe this’ll be something with a launch, iirc viper was the last launch coaster they had and that’s been gone for 20 years now iirc, sooo maybe they’ll be getting something along the lines of that

Also hi Chris didn’t know you were here too XD

Definitely think their next major coaster should be a launcher. Since Maxx Force debuted, I always kinda wanted SFOG to get one, but I think a more reliable LSM ride would work better.

I definitely wouldn't expect them to spend $20m+ on a B&M or Mack launch, maybe that $12-15m range at the high end? That should be able to buy you a decent Intamin. Or wait a few years, see how Top Thrill Zampster goes, and maybe one of those?

Fully agree on the area of potential budget- rookie racer at sfstl is the first time vekoma and sf have worked together in a while, maybe we could see something from them like a firestorm or top gun model.

Another one that’s more of a pipe dream is a launched S&S Axis. The marketability would be great and probably a little cheaper that other options since it’d be a prototype of the model, not dissimilar to how SFFT bought the first RMC raptor and got it for a lower price as a result.

Knowing how sfog is though itll be a skyrocket II or freespin, lol

Current status of Splashwater, deconstruction crew was mostly gone at this point of the day but not much blue cement to go! Very curious to see how they’re going to handle the concrete near Mine Train’s footers.
