Very curious if this means it’s going to still incorporate elements of KK, or if they’re completely tearing it down. Press release was a bit unclear. They specifically listed every other attraction but said nothing about Zumanjaro, which would lead me to believe this is something more like TT2. Also RIP Skyride officially.

The announcement specifically mentions that Green Lantern, Parachutes, and Twister are all being removed to “make way” for the new coaster. I don’t know the dimensions of that Mack spinner concept, but I would assume that ride would not take up all of that land. Perhaps they are extending the spinner layout and that concept was just a piece of the full ride the envisioned when they sent that out for a guest survey?

It does seem that a B&M is off the table, as they don’t typically make record breaking launch coasters. I am hoping that it is not the shuttle Mack coaster, as capacity would be a nightmare and they just put in Flash that is a shuttle launch coaster. A lot of emotions from this announcement for sure (also confirming the Sky Way is done).

It's probably gonna be a retool of Ka just like TT2 (hopefully they learned their lesson getting Zamperla to do it.)

But what world record would that beat by doing that.. TT2 remained the exact same minus the worlds tallest spike or whatever. And worlds tallest and fastest multi launch I guess

I think the multiple world record claim may be a strong indication that this isn't going to be a retooling of Kingda Ka. Assuming they are taking the eventual, theoretical return of Formula Rossa and the impending arrival of Falcon's Flight into account (they should be, to be clear), the only way they could break the speed record with the current tower would be to launch into brakes. Meanwhile, taking the generic height record from Falcon's Flight seems wholly unrealistic—whether a retrofit or not.

My guess is that to grab multiple world records, they're going to need to change ride types. My guess is that the answer will be that launched Mack extreme spinner concept we saw pitched for other parks in the chain. That way they can take the world's tallest and fastest spinning coaster records and not have to compete with Rossa, Falcon's Flight, or even Top Thrill 2.

Surely the easiest way of getting a "multi-world-record-breaking launch roller coaster" is by putting a Swing Launch & a massive spike. I'll defer to @b.mac's crystal-clear "It will not be revamped. [Kingda Ka] will be coming down" statement, but if that plan somehow changed, that press release seemingly leaves the door WIDE open for a renovation. See the use of "retirement" of Kingda Ka and "removal" of Parachutes and Twister, and no mention of Zumanjaro either...

Either that, or they're getting that weird ass, Mack Spinner shuttle. In which case... woof.

It seems that a full announcement will not take place until next year. However, knowing Cedar Fair, they like to start construction before a full announcement so that the ride is ready on time. After all the demo work, it will be interesting to see what type of track starts to be installed so that we can determine the ride manufacturer.

This was the right announcement to make, but I was hoping that it would be announced before the ride officially closed.

This doesn’t exactly shut the door on a Top Thrill 2 like refurb, which could be the “world record breaking” part
