It's worth noting that this Year's ACE Celebration of America which is their September event at SFA is free for ACE members and includes lights on tour of one of the new mazes.

Is SFAs Fright Fest worth checking out? I've never been to a Six Flags Halloween event, all I've heard was to avoid Great Adventure like the plague on Saturdays during Fright Fest.

In October, I'm hitting Magic Mountain for the first time ever on a Friday...............and a Saturday 💀

Don't the Fright Fest houses cost an extra fee? Or am I wrong there? I thought you needed a separate pass to do them.

Yes! The houses are an upcharge. In my opinion, it improves the event. The houses aren't overly crowded (generally), and more importantly it deters guests who tend to ruin the experience for those of us who enjoy the mazes. There will always be annoying groups of people clinging to each other and pretending to be too scared to move to the next room. But there are fewer of both them and other guests who randomly stop inside the houses or behave inappropriately.

There is also an unusual maze that runs through the forest. The execution varies, but BGW and KD don't have anything like it.

I will withholding posting pictures for now as to not spoil the surprise for anyone going but the ACE event was given a behind the scenes walk through of Unwrapped yesterday. The story line is years of Christmas pressure has driven Santa insane and you are walking through his workshop of terror and horror. While the entrance doesn't look like much and the first of the 4 sections seems to be only lightly decorated once you clear the first section you enter some pretty nicely done sets. They reused much of the holiday in the park setup for Santa's Workshop including actual letters that were left in Santa's mailbox during the last Holiday in the Park so I am sure it's only a matter of time before someone accuses them of ruining their childhood memories. This is probably the nicest SFA house I have ever seen as far as looks go. I couldn't justify buying a house pass last night given the time I needed to leave to be home and other stuff at the event that I wanted to do so can't speak to how it preforms but it looked to gave HUGE potential and reminded me much of and early Trick or Treaty as far as set design.

I remember going to Fright Fest at SFA a few years ago. It was ok

A lot of the mazes lack decor and many of them are very light on staffing. The actors are pretty good though. I remember the bumper car blackout maze being kinda weak and one maze had exactly one actor, but she was amazing

Not sure if I'd pay for a maze pass personally, but if you've never done it before, you should.
