Braddock/Whiticker is a terrible place anyways - maybe the DA should focus on from there first.

Didn't something controversial happen very recently with this DA? Seems like a flimsy attempt to deflect attention.

This is ridiculous.

Was digging into this earlier in the week since we're planning a quick stop there this year.

Kennywood doubled their police presence, removed trees to increase visibility, expanded the chaperone policy, added new cameras on fence lines, and has been cooperative with local law enforcement throughout the entire process.

The DA is angry that there is a gate in a side fence were you could "pass a weapon" and that they told the DA's office that enough is enough and that they'd no longer be welcomed into the park without a warrant. He is now threatening to sue the park.

This is also an election year for that DA (who lost the party bid to a newcomer), there was just a police chief was murdered in the area, the DA was in hot water for premature dismissal of public complaints about gun legislation, they've seen an uptick in auto sears in the area, he's dealing with a case where officers killed a nonviolent suspect, and even a local state legislator has commented in favor of the park/against the DA.

The park just says they don't want to be this guy's political pawn.

Want to know the funny part of this that I do know? That gate is something that fire inspectors have pointed to as needed for emergency reasons.

DA wants Kennywood to be a reverse prison. He’s done a lot of very unpopular things to try to win re-election.

I mean.... there are a few decent options for theming 14ft high concrete walls. 🤣

the issue i have with this is that, while yes I understand the concerns for safety and the like, as stated above the park has been very cooperative with increasing their security measures as well with the local police department(s). At this point, it’s politicians just trying to find yet another way to keep their *complaining lady voice*oh so precious job that they’ll lose otherwise. So yeah.

So as @bwick29 said:
