SeaWorld Entertainment has filed a new trademark for a new name- "United Parks and Resorts". These are the classes listed in the trademark application:

  • International Class 035: Business management services, namely, management of amusement parks; promoting public awareness of wildlife habitat conservation, natural resources conservation, animals, zoo keeping, science, ecology, rescue and rehabilitation, and animal care; charitable services, namely, organizing and developing projects and initiatives to promote awareness of ocean, beach, and marine protection and conservation; charitable services, namely, organizing and conducting community service projects and events; Intent to Use: The applicant has a bona fide intention, and is entitled, to use the mark in commerce on or in connection with the identified goods/services.
  • International Class 041: Amusement park services; providing amusement parks; providing amusement facilities; amusement park and theme park services; entertainment services, namely, arranging for ticket reservations for water parks and amusement centers; entertainment information; providing information relating to the organizing of educational, cultural or entertainment exhibitions; Intent to Use: The applicant has a bona fide intention, and is entitled, to use the mark in commerce on or in connection with the identified goods/services.

Could this be the end of the "SeaWorld Entertainment" era?

I would immediately think this is related to adding resorts, which would be a second unit under this umbrella along with SeaWorld Parks and Entertainment. Could provide some tax or other advantages. I don't see acquisitions with everything else going on.

Wild speculation on my part:

This is probably nothing, but I noticed a change late last year that I thought was odd. The Palace Entertainment site redirects to the Parques Reunidos site, instead of being it's own brand and website. Parques Reunidos has a lot of properties with Resorts/hotels and several wildlife parks. EQT, Miles Capital, and Alba took Parques Reunidos private in 2019 and could bring Parques Reunidos public again by merging with a publicly traded company like SeaWorld Parks and Resorts.

Parks Gathered (Parques Reunidos) + SeaWorld Parks and Entertainment = United Parks and Resorts?

The IPS of that domain point to ones that look to be in the same family as Sea World Parks:

Seems way too similar to “UNIversal” to me and generic. Makes sense that they want to distance their brand from the bad press, but…not like this. Something tying in their animal advocacy with the “World”/Earth/Planet seems more…on brand, I guess. Weird.

Unless I'm missing something, these are not really "new" filings, more like "just noticed" ones. Per Trademarkia & Justia, the IC35 was initially filed in October 2021, and the IC41 in November 2021. Both show as Live and are registered to Sea World LLC, which seems to be their main trademark-filing entity.

Very interesting nonetheless. Taking over the "United Parks" trademark is at least discussion-worthy, and seemingly that placeholder website having similar IP's to other SEAS-related sites, maybe this could be something!

After looking at USPTO site, it appears the old trademarks related to "United Parks" were taken over by SeaWorld between Jan 2, 2024 & Jan 17, 2024. The name "United Parks and Resorts" is a new trademark that was filed on Jan 17, 2024.

Geez, literally nothing significant about this other than a crappy name... I was really hoping for that Parques Reunidos thing haha
 
Do you think they would put the new SeaWorld Abu Dhabi on the main website when the name change goes in affect as it's not currently on there aside from the regular SeaWorld.com , I asked because they mentioned the park alot in the briefing
