I would love to see the Sea Dragon return. My dad was the editor of a magazine covering the outdoor amusement industry and we always had free tickets to any fair or amusement park we visited (we went to lots of fairs but only parks in the area..and Disney.) I have ridden lots of himilayas and scramblers, pendulum rides and orbiters, swings and carousels, but I had never ridden a ride like the Sea Dragon. I loved the way it went both back and forward and swung out. Maybe my experience was more limited than I thought and there are lots of these I just haven't encountered. Was there a problem with this ride or was it just in the way of Apollo's?

I loved that ride too, as a child it was my favorite ride. Yes, it was just in the way of Apollo, in fact, Apollo's switchbacks are under the same "tent" that Sea Dragon used to be under.

Sea Dragon was my favorite flat ride in the park as a kid (and even in the early teen years). On a slow weekday I'd ride it 3 or 4 times in a row.

Just letting everyone know that a video was posted on Youtube that has The Sea dragon running. As you can see the ride could turn forward, backwards, and sideways. It could also turn to have the boats facing each other. The turns were controlled by the operator.

A friend of mine used to work this ride and he informed me of that fact.

Here is the video that has the Sea Dragon and other rides from 1997.

Long ago, KD had a rudimentary, more bare-bones version of this ride, called Squiddly Diddly. See my avatar for the height requirement!

Let's not forget the ultimate banned playground equipment thrill ride.....The merry-go-round. I was a pro until it disappeared along with all of it's cousins nationwide somewhere around 1989. I never rode the Sea Dragon, but I did ride jonquil's sqiddly ride countless times without injury. I cannot say the same for the merry-go-round.

The Mothers Against Fun are very concerned about our safety. Teeter-todders, slides, swings ... Pretty much everything that made recess worthwhile has been banned. Also dodgeball, and similar PE staples from grade school.

There was a merry-go-round in the neighborhood behind mine that was there until at least the early 2000s. I was upset when it was removed.

I only ever got to ride the Sea Dragon once. And I'm rather sad that's the case, because it still looks like my sort of ride. >:
