A permit was recently filed by Busch Gardens Tampa to enclose the wild-mouse style ride and its queue by sometime in 2018. This will allow more to do during Florida's summer thunderstorms and provide a creative slate for such an underrated ride

This is a really interesting find and explains why the ride was closed for several weeks in the spring. I assume that they will theme the exterior of the building to match the rest of Pantopia, with at least the level of detail as DarKastle. I would hate to see a giant metal building to ruin the look of the area.

It would be icing on the cake if they added some dark ride elements to the ride and some interesting lighting. I wouldn't be surprised to see if it got another rename after all of this.

Before I even read this post, I thought this is exactly what we shouldn't expect. ;)

I'm kind of disappointed to just see this instead of a possible removal and a new dark ride. That said, that area is very tight. It's almost a wonder that they have Sand Serpent there, but they also have the huge Pantopia warehouse behind it.

I hope that Shane is right, but I would expect something more like the original Catapult at BGW before any theming was added (strobes and fog at best). Otherwise, I would love to see some wind, and a maybe a few cool projections. Although it definitely would be good to see, I don't see how Verbolten's set style would work with such a small ride envelope.

Even if that's possible, it could look cheap very easily. I would say 80% or more of Verbolten relies on perfectly timed lighting cues rather than its flat set of theatrical rigging. The upkeep on ride lighting and audio is very difficult when the maintenance people aren't theatrically-inclined. Look at any BGW ride with special effects. Things only seem to get fixed when vigilant Entertainment people take their mandatory rides.

I'm excited by the potential that this has, but also worried that this may be a cheap gimmick, based on several recent SEAS investments. Remember, Joel Manby himself said in a roundabout way that there goal right now is to build more for less money. Until that changes, I don't think we can expect anything resembling the likes of DarKastle.

Edit: Or even anything that resembles the exterior of DarKastle, for that matter.

Laff Trak 2.0?

Oh I wasn't suggesting that they were going to turn a Stock Wild Mouse to anything on par with DarKastle. I was just hoping the exterior would get at least as much theming as DarKastle and the inside wasn't just an empty warehouse. A few cutouts and lighting is all I expect. I haven't ridden Lafftrack, but yes something like that would be nice.

Maybe they could afford the price of the tower, but otherwise I think Curse of DarKastle's exterior is quite elaborate, and probably out of their price range.

Then again, I have heard many rumors about Pantopia that never came true. These rumors came from very high up. It would be nice if the park is still actively working on making that area even more immersive. Much like Hastings to Ireland at BGW, you can still see a lot of the backbone of the Timbuktu, yet it works. I know Pantopia isn't a real place, but that's half of the beauty of it. They can do whatever they want to with that area as long as it somehow seems to connect to some of the other stories depicted out in the village.

Personally, I love the idea that people from all over the world have come to Pantopia bringing their own cultures and a passion for our natural world. They could perhaps theme this ride after the first person who landed in Pantopia. According to the story, he landed there in a hot air balloon. The ride could take place in the storm that landed him there and have lots of cool special effects.

As of last August, Wild Maus was back up and running again. Not sure how long it'll last or whether or not the park will actually move forward with the enclosure since nothing's been announced or even hinted at.

I have to think the plans have been put on hold. I'm not really sure. I do find it really odd to go through permit filings and then just not do anything though. Perhaps they wanted the ride re-open for their busier months? Though I guess the original poster did say something about "...by sometime in 2018," so I don't know.

The warehouse building behind Sand Serpent is being used for Howl-O-Scream and Christmas Town now. I would expect construction to start after that. I doubt they would want to create a lot of noise in that area during Howl-O-Scream or Christmas Town.
