Today I made a startling discovery: Roman Frieze's name is actually a pretty clever pun. I always just thought "frieze" was a weird faux-Italian spelling of "freeze," but I just learned the word actually means "a broad horizontal band of sculpted or painted decoration, especially on a wall." The eatery's sign is literally a horizontal band of a painted pattern on a wall. All these years of passing the place, I had no idea it was a top-tier play on words.

This sort of thing happens to me sometimes too. Don’t ask how long it took me to notice “Toy Story” is an obvious play on “toy store.” I won’t even share that information.
