"Orlando (or Anaheim), we've got a (big) problem..."

I hope they make an announcement soon. I need to decide whether to go to WDW in December.
Yes I hope they make an announcement soon, even though I live in Orlando, Stephans sister and brother were gonna come back out in December just for RotR.
Lot of stuff gonna around that DHS is gonna be delayed (not sure if it is true or not), but this cannot be a good thing for Disney if they have to announce it is gonna be delayed, I am sure that may hurt some of the Holiday bookings. So, in the same boat want to let family and friends know before hand. Especially since they are down here now, and we are doing our mini Disney get away and staying at The Contemporary and I live like half hour away.
So, hope it is not delayed or they at least make some type of announcement or Blog about what is up. Although, if it is delayed looks like DHS will have at least 2 new rides opening within the next 10 years. (MMRR and RotR) hehe.

I can say that many people canceled or moved trips this december because of Star Wars. While star wars may be huge for fans many guests were scared off from all the publicity of the new land and rumors of massive crowds. Ive heard the system in Cali failed and the one in the east is diffrent. We have done two trips down to Galaxys Edge now and honestly im bored with the Smugglers Run already so I am loking forward to Rise and hopes of reridability.

Today is media day and things are going smoothly than a 2 hour closure, and had a 45 minute wait to be evacuated. Will not do spoilers until open tomorrow
Which I will be there for opening day with the hubby and his Marine brothers. I will say this even though I am not a fan of the Disney Star Wars, the ride and queue are very enjoyable. I thought we at Uni have too many screenz on rides, but this one does too but works with some of the actual physical props used.

If anyone wants spoilers it looks like a lot of the bloggers & vloggers have already posted POV's on YouTube. So, check them out if you want. As for me I won't give any spoilers except I like the waterfall in the outside queue. EK9Jcx3WsAEvaaX.jpg

It is an amazing ride, Disney out did themselves. You must do It if you are in Orlando or coming. Get there early they hand out boarding passes so that you can go do other things until your groups boarding pass is announced. I have gotten to ride it 4 times and it is slowly becoming my favorite ride at WDW. I have pics but won't post them so that it don't spoil it for anyone. You can tell that Scott Trowbridge who did Spiderman at IOA was a major part of this. Go join the Resistance and enjoy your escape from the First Order

Are you seeing different things each time, or what do you get out of riding it more than once?

Somewhat depends on what elevator and drop system you go to, or only difference to me really was eiter front or back. In the spin in the back it really gives you a nice force. If you get the front you get to see more of the action up front like the hologram.
Also it depends on the star cruiser you get on that is the simulator to take you on board the transport, if you get upfront you will enjoy the scenes better and get the best view, in the back hopefully not big heads stand in your way.

I would say go and ride it as much as you can. However it looks like now even on the app, you can only get ONE ride per day, they will not scan you when you leave to be able to getting another boarding group with Magic Band. I wish it was the George Lucas SW that I grew up, but I think Disney hit this on the head. It's the type of ride they needed, even thougt still some glitches, but it is amazing all the way thru to the queue, the pre shows, the outside loading of transport, to the mega hall of Storm Troopers, the ride to the end. Plus, the CM are great with their sticking to the story and part they have.

So, after riding this morning, I can say without a shadow of a doubt that it’s a great attraction—but I do worry that the ride runs the risk of being severely overhyped. Is it (as a complete experience) better than Spider-Man, Flight of Passage, and even Forbidden Journey? Yes, I think so. Is it a better ride than all of those though? I’m way less sure about that.

Rise, as a ride, was somewhat underwhelming for me. Many of the effects actually struck me as more lackluster in person than they even look in videos. Being “broken out” of the holding cell? Enchanted Tales with Bell executes a similar effect better. The saber through the ceiling bit? Not the least bit convincing in person. The climax with the window breaking behind Kylo Ren? Just sorta cheesy looking honestly. If you break things down scene by scene... There’s honestly a lot left to be desired there in my opinion. ?

That said, Rise excels well beyond its peers when it comes to both storytelling and really immersing you into a world. The queue and preshows are brilliant—easily the best in the industry if you ask me. Another enormous plus of Rise is the cast—they all stay perfectly in character. Moreover, every move the guest makes has an in-story justification—something Disney was already well ahead of the curve on with Flight of Passage.

So yeah, I don't think Rise of the Resistance is some sort of entirely groundbreaking, life-changing, dark ride—I think its brilliance comes from how that dark ride is packaged. THAT is the aspect that I expect to change what e-ticket theme park attractions will look like moving forward.

Here’s a super cool video Tim Tracker did of the ride.

I had a similar feeling. I love the boarding groups that they are doing. It's really nice to not have to wait 10 hours to ride it. I do wish I didn't have to be there so early in the morning. I definitely wouldn't do that every time but it was still worth it the first time I went.

so theres no line right?

Correct. You get to the park before opening, get into the gate before official opening, and then, EXACTLY at official opening time, you reserve a boarding pass in the My Disney Experience app. That is the ONLY way to ride Rise right now.

(For the record, I love the boarding group system and hope that it becomes standard for any attraction with similar demand to Rise moving forward.)

You still have a wait just not as long. Our waits varied, a couple were 15-20 min and the longest was almost a hour. I personally dislike the boarding pass system and this is why. So to just get a chance to ride you need to be there and in the park about 6:45 to get in and give the system time to reconize you are in the park. Now if you want to try and rope drop a ride you need to be on the first bus from your resort and need to be at the bus stop about 2 hours before posted opening time. Now for last week some mornings posted opening was 6am, we were at the bus stop at 4, we were on the first bus around 4:25. That first bus filled and not everyone got on. This put us waking up at 3am to get showers and be ready, which means you cant close out like MK at midnight. Now when you arrive at the park you stand for another hour just to get through the touchpoints and to when they hold you again. During that time the park get packed, massively packed. Once the park opens everything instantly had waits of over a hour. You can only get one ride in the morning now with almost no wait. Our boarding groups were always in the 109-125 range and that was seconds after 7am so the group numbers seem completely random.
Now here is where its really messing up plans, we generally go to the parks when they open, stay till around 1pm then go back to the resort for some pool time, a nap, basically some time to relax then head to a diffrent park around dinner time and stay till close. Our first day we had group 112 and going by past days and times that should have been around 4pm call up. Well we got back to the room at 1 and layed down to catch up from that 3am wakeup. Our group was called at 1:44pm with a 3 hour return but since I didnt hear the alert on the phone we didnt see it till my alarm went off at 3pm. We had dinner reservations at 4 for Beaches. So we jumped up and rushed back to the park to ride, it was about 4:15 when we were done with Rise so now we were late for the dining reservation. I talked to a few cast members at dining locations and they said they have had a increase in no shows for reservations since rise opened. I feel like this trip we spent more time riding transportation to piece in the other parks around rise that we had ever before. The ride itself is amazing, every ride was a diffrent experience ro you seenew things. The live storm troopers in one ride really made it amazing.

@WDWRLD I don't think you would like having to wait in line from 6:45am to 1:44pm either...in that system, you'd get zero other rides / pool time. I don't understand the complaint of their boarding pass system. Do you have a fix for it or do you just want to complain?

I wouldnt like to wait that long either. I would much rather have to wake up at 7am 60 days earlier to get a fastpass when I am sitting in my warm dry house. One morning we stood in a downpour for a hour and Sunday it was freezing cold. You are still waiting a long time just to get the boarding pass. I would just rather them do Fastpasses. It really sucks for families with small kids waking them up that early if both parents want to ride. One idea I had was to do hourly boarding groups. So for example at 8am you have to be in the park and boarding groups open for from 9am-10am. If you dont get one you wait till the next hour if you choose. But this way would at least allow you to pick times somewhat close. We were just there 10 days, and getting up that early throws you off and by 4-5 pm your exhausted. My questilon to you @Conan233 is have you been there for this boarding pass system? If not you dont know exactly how its running. Tim Trackers video shows a good example of how much waiting around and wasting time is happening. Believe my the ride is amazing, but waking up at 3am for a chance to ride a ride sometime that day, and you have no way of knowing when, throws off plans. We missed numerous FP+ this week because of rise. When we made our FP pland 60 days out we had no idea this would be running like this. We literally had to leave MK one day right after a FP, take a bus to Studios to ride then go back to MK for our last FP missing the one in the middle.
