The park has released the schedule for the 2014 Real Music Series. Interesting to note it will still be held in the Stanleyville Theater.

From the park's website:

The Real Music Concert Series, Busch Gardens® Tampa’s longest running concert series, returns Tuesdays through Fridays Jan. 14 to March 7 with incredible live music spanning the 1930s-1970s to include swing, blues, pop, jazz, disco, and rock ‘n roll – a genre for everyone.

This year we have Herman’s Hermits starring Peter Noone, Chubby Checker, The Glenn Miller Orchestra with The Four Freshmen, Bay City Rollers starring Les McKeown, Paul Revere and The Raiders, The Osmonds, Frankie Avalon, and Lee Greenwood.

The Real Music Concert Series kicks off on January 14 and runs through March 7. Concerts are held at 11:30 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday through Friday.

The complete schedule:

  • Herman’s Hermits starring Peter Noone - January 14 - 17
  • Chubby Checker - January 21 - 24
  • The Glenn Miller Orchestra with The Four Freshmen - January 28 - 31
  • Bay City Rollers starring Les McKeown - February 4 - 7
  • Paul Revere and the Raiders - February 11 - 14
  • The Osmonds - February 18 - 21
  • Frankie Avalon - February 25 - 28
  • Lee Greenwood - March 4 - 7

^We saw Herman's Hermits a couple years ago when they were at BGW. They were really good, even though the only original mmber was Perter Noone! :) Afterwards we got an autographed CD. Pretty cool, really worth seeing! :)

My family used to joke that Chubby Checker just lived in the park and once a year would stumble out to the Festhaus Lawn for a performance. It seemed like he performed a concert EVERY YEAR (was probably only a couple of years but felt like a lot).

I guess he has since relocated to Tampa. Probably nicer weather with his increased age. :)

I have seen them all at Busch Gardens (except Bay City Rollers and Lee Greenwood) at one time or another in the past. Herman's Hermits and Chubby gives an awesome show. Frankie Avalon is an icon and still sounds great. I saw Lee Greenwood another place, granted, most of the music I do not care for, but I will see his show 100 times to hear God Bless the USA (I am a veteran). I always look forward to these shows

I will dig up some of the recordings I have done of their performances in the past and link it, give you all an idea

I would love to see all of them at BGW. Have seen Frankie, Peter Noone and Chubby before and always give a good show. I have a feeling this year will again be disappointing..hope I am proved wrong!

Looks like the Bay City Rollers aren't rolling into town as expected...

From the park's facebook page:
Real Music Series Update: Due to travel-related issues, this week’s scheduled performances with the Bay City Rollers starring Les McKeown are delayed. Les is working quickly to resolve the issues. We apologize for the inconvenience and invite you to join us as Fernando Varela, America’s Got Talent’s 8th Season finalist, performs daily during this week’s Real Music Series until the Bay City Rollers can take the stage. Performances are still scheduled Tuesday-Friday at 11:30am, 1pm, and 3:30pm.

To update, Bay City Rollers starring Les McKeown will not be performing at the park this week due to travel related issues. The Lettermen are scheduled to take their place for Thursday's and Friday's concerts.

Too bad about Les McKeown. He is planning a tour in August. Hopefully he will be able to perform at one of the parks. Fans from as far away as Canada came to see him and are willing to do it again.
