There should be no need to use them this year. I am currious about how you ended with two sets. Last year I upgraded and kept using my gold through the end of the year then they switched it to platinum st the gate on my first trip this year.

I bought them from Canada's Wonderland. Exchange rate FTW! Basically amounts to a free drink plan. I couldn't "renew" from my KD Gold (I tried). Not sure but I'd think you'd get a new card even if you upgraded at KD seeing how it's platinum and not gold? I did get the pass processed at KD no problem, in case you were wondering. You don't have to process it at the park you purchased it. When I did that, I didn't go into the park with the platinum passes, because I didn't know if we'd get our free drinks or not, so we went in with the Gold passes.

Is there anyone else who has seen the mountains from ontop of the Eiffel Tower on a super clear day. Kinda in between volcano and Dominator?

I've seen the mountains on a clear day. But, as stated above, between the KD sign and the on-grounds motel (west-northwest direction).

Maybe you were looking at the Volcano mountain?

Either that or the clouds were playing tricks on your eyes - though we don't have any perennial snow capped peaks in Virginia (or any Appalachian mountain I believe)

I taught at a Richmond area school for a few years that had a lot of students work at KD. There was often talk of fights happening at the park and sometimes just chaos there. Is this the actual case? Or just overreaction?

I think in the past there were instances..... things have changed drastically. It's not the same KD any longer (it's FAR better than you can imagine)

That is good to hear. Seeing how inexpensive their season pass is compared to BGW's membership seems like it may be worth checking out.

I highly recommend it. I literally went from despising the park to absolutely adoring it in less than 2 years time. Depending on where you live you might want to consider a Platinum pass and check out some other Cedar Fair Parks as well.

Especially on super busy Saturdays during Haunt, Kings Dominion can still draw a rowdy crowd on occasion (something every park chain from Six Flags to Busch to Disney seems to be dealing with right now). That said, the VAST majority of the time, its a perfectly dosile place. The days of violence, stabbings, and shootings at KD seem to be long behind the park now—likely due to lower group attendance, a higher percentage of family and pass holder visitation, higher prices, a focus on the overall guest experience, etc.

I stopped going to the park back in 2000 because it was so bad. I went back in 2018 and was pleasantly surprised. As mentioned they occasionally have problems like all the other parks but it is so much nicer than before and I've had the season pass for the last two or three years.

It was a little rough in the very late 90's- mid 00's, but there haven't been many issues since.

Off the top of my head, I remember Dogwood’s Grill having coffee last year, but not sure if that’s still the case.

Is it possible to upgrade the regular drink plan to the coffee/hot chocolate plan? I don't actually want to drink their coffee, but on a cold WF day getting a steady supply of hot chocolate would be nice. Alternatively, instead of a season refill, do they sell an all-day hot chocolate/coffee cup?

The coffee wasn't that good, but the plan is well worth it for the hot chocolate and ICEEs.

Definitely can't upgrade to the + plan online.

Did you already buy the All-Season Drink plan for next year? If not, buying the 2023 plan gives you the remainder of the 2022 season as well.

If you already bought it I guess you would have to ask Guest Services if that is something they can do.

They do have some kind of Hot Chocolate deal with the Hot Chocolate Souvenir cup. I assume free refills for the day?

Yeah, I already got the regular drink plan for 2023. Now having regrets. lol. I'll email them and see if anything can be done to upgrade our plans.
