This has got to sting. After losing what would have been the world's first new-gen Vekoma Tilt Coaster, Six Flags Mexico's compensation is a Vekoma family boomerang. These things are never bad, but talk about a downgrade!

I wonder if the situation with the local government is at all like at Great Escape, where the park couldn't add any new rides without being forced to pay for additional infrastructure as traffic around the park was already very dense, but the park was able to replace bobsleds with bobcat without any drama.

Also, the fact they're calling this a "family thrill" boomerang makes me hopeful this is either a Super Boomerang clone, or otherwise, something more unique than what we've seen at Holiday World and Kings Island.

Translation of CoasterWorldMX post:
"And to no one's surprise, Six Flags Mexico has confirmed the addition of the Jr. Boomerang 205m (the second smallest of all the models) for its 2026 season, along with some children's rides brought from Cedar Point, which are already in the park.
What do you think of these new features?"

I believe one of the biggest shortfalls for six flags Mexico is getting their local government to actually green light bigger investment projects. It seems like with the tilt coaster, the government will threw another issue of concern whenever the company tries to resolve the previous one.

I mean, it's a good kiddie coaster but damn, I can't imagine being a fan of this park, having a Vekoma Tilt Coaster stolen, and getting a Vekoma Family Boomerang in return. I hope they're given the money they deserve in 2027.
Well no. Then the government will just bitch about that too

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the problem was that the tilt was going to necessitate cutting down too many trees?

Solution: Buy the park a custom layout designed to work with the terrain and landscaping rather than shipping them a second hand, off the shelf design to sloppily drop on a freshly clear-cut plot.

In the vast majority of cases, parks aren't the victims of their local governments—they are simply incompetent when working with and around the regulations they're (often reasonably) subjected to. I'd need some good evidence for some crazy, completely unreasonable, unfair treatment before I'd start feeling bad for Six Flags in this situation.

The government complaint was too many trees. They came up with a new location where no trees would be lost. The government switched their complaint to traffic. Trees were never the real issue.
Disclaimer:
I (or I suspect many of us) have no clue how Mexico’s development laws work. Or local government.

That being said, Six Flags has had a past of trying to announce things without locality approval on site plans, and basically bullying the local government to do what they want.

I would say that there is a chance that this is in play here.

The coaster will be located between CraZanity and Batman: The Ride.

"This Friday, May 23, the company issued a statement with which they presented their new roller coaster.

According to the information, this new game meets all the requirements in terms of sustainability and the environment. At the same time as its installation, 300 m2 of green areas will be added on the boundaries of the land.

Six Flags Mexico pointed out that this project has already been verified by the competent authorities of Mexico City and the Tlalpan Mayor's Office, so it has all the permits required by the regulations for its installation.

The new attraction seeks to integrate into its catalog of family entertainment, promoting social development and the care of green spaces. And it is that the park highlighted that, for the construction, no tree will be cut down.

On the contrary, the "Roller Coaster Family Boomerang" will be located on a concrete slab, which was previously the stage of a theater within the amusement complex.

"With this new investment, Six Flags Entertainment Corporation reaffirms its commitment to Mexico, Mexico City and the Mayor's Office of Tlalpan, as well as the responsible growth of the entertainment industry, an important pillar of the country's economic flow," they said."

We have an announcement! Speedway Stunt Coaster! Same model as Snoopy’s Soapbox Racers at KI. You can tell they were planning for the tilt because it looks like we’re getting a lot of theming since they didn’t get it.

Love the soundtrack!

However, as a huge Nascar fan, I really dislike the theme for this kind of ride. Nothing screams speedway like zooming 38mph backwards?

I'm sure the ride will do well in the park, I just find the theming choice puzzling despite looking really good.
