On one hand, it’s nice to see them put money into an older ride to upgrade the tech.

On the other hand, Toy Story has its own land at Hollywood Studios already, and along with Monsters Inc getting a land (potentially moving Laugh Floor to DHS?), it feels like they should reimagine the space for both attractions into something fresh.

If they want to keep it a dark ride, why not give it a new IP (Wreck-It Ralph? Big Hero 6?), and use the Laugh Floor theater to expand the queue, add a preshow, or lengthen the ride. If they’re going to put money into a ride, I prefer them to expand it like that - it also gives them a new ride to market.

Other resorts have already done this: HKDL’s turned into Ant-Man and Tokyo’s is becoming a Wreck-It Ralph attraction. That seems like a better way forward. (Could happen at Disneyland too - since both US resorts already have Mania to pick up the mantle).

Guessing that putting money into Buzz means it’s going to stick around for a few more years.

This is excellent news. Like @paintervision, I'd have preferred they replace the attraction, but given they still haven't solved the Stitch theater problem and Laugh Floor still exists, I can see where a Buzz replacement would be down the priority list a bit. Even if this only gives it another 10 years, it's definitely a worthwhile update. The MK Space Ranger Spin is truly awful. Horrible guns, no feedback, looks comically dated, etc. After riding the Disneyland version a few weeks ago for the first time, it's really night and day. It looks like this new system is basically the same as the one DL currently has and it is a truly dramatic improvement—so much so that I actually enjoyed my ride on Disneyland's despite despising Magic Kingdom's for many, many years now.
