Would have been nice to get something a bit better for the 50th ANNIVERSARY. But I guess they could just wait until after Wrath is open to make a cooler announcement than this.

So I don't have a timestamp on this, but apparently this is showing up on the Gurnee permitting map???

Think it's pretty explicit about what this is and where it is. Might be game for Parkfans sneaking a look.

That is the permit for Wrath of Rakshasa. Not sure why it says Revolution, but it was filed by Campanella and not the park.

You can search the permits here: Village of Gurnee | One-Stop Shop Permitting & Licensing

542 N 21 is the park address.

Yeah because discounting that the Rakshasa project is ongoing, why would they file footer permits for a theoretical family coaster so far in advance? Why would they even get one in the first place so soon after Rakshasa?

Just the Revolution location and explicit mention that I was concerned about, since this really isn’t connected to the current site at all.

I suspect we’ll see go karts removed from any park that’s still got them over the next few years. Great Adventure has them so tucked away that I constantly forgot they were there even when I lived in NJ and was going weekly, can’t imagine there’s much ridership with them being upcharges in addition.

Was just at CGA the other day and I was saying that putting the new kids area where Planet Snoopy is in CGA would be smart because they could use Little Dipper in it and they need to get rid of those go karts lol

Im in favor of go-karts being removed from parks universally even for kids areas.
It really does feel like regional parks are moving away from upcharge attractions. Also doesn't help that a lot of these are aging and near the end of their service life to begin with (especially the sky coasters)

I think a big part of this is reducing money-handling positions to control shrink and to cut overhead costs for payment processors. Parks have gone cashless but even midway games and arcades have moved over to paycard platforms (or arcades are being outsourced around the Six Flags chain entirely), and parks are pushing meal deals/drink deals more often to reduce the amount of times a card is processed, etc. Probably worse for things requiring extra labor or hard goods like restaurants and upcharge rides than Flash Pass one-shots, which trends closer to being pure profit and doesn't really subsidize much extra staff except on peak days.

Or maybe offering a slew of modern rides/coasters means there's less of a reason for people to spend on upcharges? I do think some of these stuck around as they offered an alternative for longer lines and slower ops in a park (especially for infrequent guests), but this is basically what the Flash Pass provides these days. Again that trends closer to being pure profit without adding too many extra operations positions, so that's likely what they want people spending on instead.

The only thing that gives me pause about putting a kids' area where the current Go-Karts sit is that it's so close to the existing Camp Cartoon kids' area.

my prediction: camp cartoon rides gets moved to the go kart track along with kidzpolis (maybe hometown park) rides (gets new themes), while the old locations of kidzpolis, hometown park & camp cartoon gets redeveloped for new additions in 2027, 2028, & 2029
