So @Mushroom the reason why I gave the alternative what I wish storyline is Blue and her fellow raptors Delta, Echo, and Charlie; is they are hero’s in their film that tend to always come back and help the humans.

And yes I know not everyone cares about this stuff but having that characters betray their key personality traits in the movie does bother me some. Even if they kept the story similar but when they broke containment you are guiding them back to the pad would be better to me than running away from them.

The raptors become heroes at the end of the film when they help take down the Indominus, but early in the film, they're still portrayed as dangerous killers. In fact, there are several scenes where the raptors kill (or almost kill) multiple human characters. Since the ride is set before the events of first film take place, the ride's portrayal of the raptors - tame enough that corporate thinks they're safe, but still deadly enough for Owen to be concerned - is perfectly in line with the raptors' characters.

I don't know if that was ever explicitly stated - I just assumed that was the case since the park gets destroyed and closes forever by the end of the film.

I think its pretty obvious because Blues siblings Charlie, Echo and Delta are alive and part of the chase. And as we all know Blue is the sole survivor of her raptor pack at the end of Jurassic World.

Well I can say it’s a great coaster, we rode back row yesterday and second row today. The back is over 50% out of your seat time, in fact quite a few times I felt like I was going to fly out of the seat. The 2nd row was much smother and you could see more of the rock work and surroundings.

Were they letting you pick seats or was back row just luck of the draw?

Also, thoughts on the restraints? I've been hearing good things.

Yes they were letting us pick our seats. We did back row first then today the front row was super long so we asked to do second row since we needed to head out to catch my flight. There was a “event” today with big wigs riding so more people queued up today. Most trains were running half empty or just with front and back rows filled. Both days I only saw a couple trains completely filled and they were not skipping rows. The new double sided lockers are great as well and they do metal detectors.

That’s where everyone wanted to ride. And not every train was like that, all depended on where people wanted to sit or if they didn’t have a request.

This coaster isn't just hype. Holy shit it's good. The drop and last inversion are fantastic. Even if it weren't one of the best themed coasters out there, it would be a top ten in my opinion. It's just so good at so many different things—it's like a jack of all trades and a master of one (that last inversion).

I have to agree that it was fantastic. And really long. I especially liked the laterals on the final hill.

The queue reminded me of Forbidden Journey. It was cleverly themed and never dumped you into a massive pre-show room.

Oh god yes. The lockers are so elegantly integrated into the queue! I really hope this quickly becomes the industry standard. I actually don't mind coasters having metal detectors if they have a free locker setup in the queue near the station like VelociCoaster.

The queue is just really good overall in my opinion too—not just from a theming and effects standpoint, but from a design and comfort standpoint too. Wide walkways, good airflow, bread coaster interaction, super neat lighting... It just all feels very well thought out in a way that some older Universal attraction queues really do not.

I have PTSD from waiting in line for Dudley Do-Right's through blisteringly hot, dark, stagnant, narrow hallways. Some of those retrofitted-through-backstage-hallways Uni express queues can be downright hellish.

Where did yall ride in the train and how long was the wait?

They are assigning rows now and not honoring requests so it was all luck based unfortunately. We got the second to last row last night well after park close (posted at 45, but there were a number of delays in loading that caused it to be longer). This afternoon we got in line with a posted 45 minute wait and ended up actually waiting like 30 probably—they were pushing trains out like crazy—there was almost always a train running through each half this afternoon. Anyway, on our round today we lucked out and were assigned the very back row which was, obviously, incredible.

There was a massive difference between front and back, I think more so than any other coaster i’ve ever ridden. The back I constantly felt like i was going to fly out of the seat but the front I stayed firmly planted in the seat. Those over the water rolls and that second launch to the top hat though were incredible. We were talking about all the foliage and the huge job it will be to keep it trimmed as well as how much more hidden parts of that ride will be once it grows in.

FWIW: The top hat does not have brakes. Those are stators that will push the train over in a stall condition...and yes...the back row is bonkers...
