The distance is not quite a half mile from the cloverleaf at the park entrance. Most fully equipped consumer drones can make that and more. The closest would be pulling over on 60 next to the park, where the middle of the ride is about 1800' away. Capture.PNG

I apologize for Derailing the thread a bit. Appreciate all the feedback. Really it's just a matter of getting permission as there's really no public land to take off and land from in that general area. Other than that, line of sight is not really a problem. For most who have fairly good Vision, you can see at least to 800-1000 feet or so. And 200 to 400 feet in altitude is about right. If your licensed, going above that's not a problem, LOL. In that general area there is no restrictions or FAA flight rules.

you don’t need permission if you fly between 200 and 400ft legally, however you might still get banned from the park. Also, with DJI drones you can set waypoints so it could fly there without having to have your hands on the controller to be less auspicious.

Dangit....why didnt anyone think of putting up trail cameras on the entrance road to BGW?
The fancy ones with the cellular antennae would be super awesome at this task.

Of course they run like $300 each and if when the park finds them they're easily traceable and they'll surely ban you...

But hey you only live once.

The silence (lack of Pantheon train photos) is deafening.

I imagine more than a few people after 24 hours of no posts; eagerly clicked hoping to see photos and were massively disappointed. Sorry.

Imagine if BGW would work with a media outlet to provide consistent construction updates...

Seriously though. I've noticed a major slowdown of the Pantheon hype train. Barely anyone has been talking about it here or anywhere else. It's pretty depressing that such a great coaster is being done so dirty by its park.

There’s a seeming assumption that the longer the hype tail, the greater the attendance. Not necessarily, and potentially wasted marketing budget. The inclination to visit the park may be just as much influenced by hype a month in advance of ride-open date, as 2 months in advance. There’s a lot to be said for keeping the powder dry, and unleashing maximum force at a time of optimum impact.
