I saw a trip report today on r/rollercoasters. The author refers to Park President Kevin addressing an ACE picnic and a subtle "mention" of the ride coming in 2020...."there's a lot of good information on the Internet about it right now and there's a lot of bad information as well."

So, what's the good and what's the bad? Something is right.

(I tried to link the subreddit but it defaults to the YouTube video they posted).

I know everyone wants to bank on Intamin doing this project but they aren't the only ones with backwards spikes in the industry. And considering BGW and Mack are probably on better terms (and have a pretty proven track record at the other Sea World parks), I could easily see Madrid being a Mack launcher.

I love Mack and all, but they are notorious for really low intensity launches. Busch needs something that can contend with the big bois, and sadly I feel as though only B&M or Intamin can provide what they need, though I'd never personally object to a Mack coaster 😃

And also although it isn't super close, Copperhead Strike will be just a few hours south as of 2019, so another Mack Launch coaster wouldn't be preferable, unless it's really out of the box and is able to upstage CS, which frankly looks rather hard to do without Mack taking huge strides out of their comfort zone.

It's not like parks haven't built similar rides in the same marketing regions before. I could list a slew of examples, but I'd rather not for the sake of keeping the post short.

Provided you got a different name and different look, most people won't notice or care. Besides, if this triple launch spike thing is the final proposal regardless of who makes it BGW will have something to market on.

Top speed of a launch is just related to how long the launch section is, that's an easy adaptation.

My thing with Mack is them potentially having to change their tech to achieve a launch with a higher acceleration. Which is directly related to intensity.

Has Mack made any rides up there with Intamin's most intense? While I'm at it, I'd lump current B&M into the moderate intensity category.

And also although it isn't super close, Copperhead Strike will be just a few hours south as of 2019, so another Mack Launch coaster wouldn't be preferable, unless it's really out of the box and is able to upstage CS, which frankly looks rather hard to do without Mack taking huge strides out of their comfort zone.
On top of that, Copperhead Strike won't be going even as fast as Verbolten, the ostensibly family coaster.

It's not so much the proximity so much as the similar time frame on top of that.

No they have not, that was my point.

And B&M provides a different kind of intensity than Intamin. Intamin's launches are usually extremely forceful, B&M will just build a tall boy. Intamin makes tall boys too, I'm just saying they are like the two manufacturers that BGW needs to work with to make something that gets on the map of like "the biggest and baddest" out there right now.

The nice thing about the Intamin shuttle launch is that while it combines elements from Tempesto and Verbolten, it’s still very different than either.

Tempesto is basically their filler/glorified flat ride, Verbolten is their family coaster/dark ride combo, Madrid is their big boi flagship.

That's the hope. Honestly speaking, BG has been disappointing me more and more so I'm not getting my hopes up. Last year was the first year I didn't visit the park once. I bought a Kings Dominion season pass instead and enjoyed it much more than I would have at BG. BG was my home park growing up but the direction the park has been in has been awful. They used to be an icon in the theme park industry for innovation and thrills. All that has gone away. The last "big boi" coaster was almost 12 freakin' years ago now.

Curiosity here: Why is "big boi" coaster the line of innovation?

Bolt features the first drop track in NA. Mach Tower was innovative. BfI is the first use of VR in a motion simulator at a park. That's all innovative. Just because it's not a 'big boi' coaster doesn't mean BGW isn't innovating anymore.

In my opinion Verbolten and InvadR were wonderful additions to BGW. They add a lot of great diversity to the lineup. The park did not have a wooden coaster or a launch coaster before they were added and Verbolten is really unique especially for the US and I think it's a blast. Tempesto is just because SEAS decided to buy some SRIIs in bulk and again I think it compliments the lineup of BGW well it's a lot of fun.

I do look forward to the next "huge" coaster a ton as it's been 11 years since Griffon. I am greatly looking forward to the details soon I have to imagine there will be more leaks in the coming months. We knew what InvadR was a while before it was announced. I admit I do hope whatever it is is in the "I305, TT" tier of intensity/airtime as BGW does not have anything in that category but regardless I'll be happy with whatever is announced as long as it improves the park as a whole (which most large coasters would).

The only ways B&M can give BGW biggest-and-baddest now would either be giga, in which case it has to keep up with I305/Fury, hyper-and-or-launched flying, in which case the bar is lower (Batwing and Nighthawk), or a resurrection of Drachen Fire (out of the question at the moment since Madrid is most likely using Festa Field).

If Madrid is a sit-down launch, it needs to be a Maverick killer. A moderate intensity launch coaster would just compete with (draw riders away from) Verbolten, though most likely be better.
