News Project 2019: Cutback (ProSlide RocketBLAST/FlyingSAUCER)

I was thinking about Project 2019 a bit, and I think the best location for this prospective new attraction would be between Rock 'n Roll Island and Hubba Hubba Highway. That way they could connect the two areas and form a complete loop around the back side of the park, instead of both areas being located at dead ends.
I suppose the reason this hasn't been attempted yet is because this space (which I believe would back up against Kritter Korral) has a large ravine. However, if the park could figure out a way to construct a new attraction (or even just a path) in this area, I would be willing to sacrifice the unfortunate loss of some trees (both areas feel seemingly isolated by forests) for a much more cohesive flow of the park layout.

I don't think they are able to build anything between those two areas you described without major permitting from the county. Considering most of that land is within a Resource Protection Area (RPA) buffer, they would have to get approvals to impact the area that is protected by the Chesapeake Bay Preservation Act. First off, a disclaimer: I have not personally seen any evidence to back up the following rumor. That said, I have spoken to people who report having witnessed circumstantial evidence that seems to back up the claim. Just because this option is being seriously explored internally though, doesn't mean that it is a done deal just yet.
Anyway, with that out of the way...
I have been told by multiple independent sources that Busch Gardens Williamsburg is in serious talks with ProSlide for Water Country USA's next big project. The product being talked about? A four man HydroMAGNETIC ROCKET launched water coaster.
If what I'm currently hearing rings true throughout the rest of the attraction's development, expect it to replace a current attraction or two at Water Country USA.

This very much excites me...but I wish it didn’t come at the expense of a current attraction. Feel like they have the space and ability to make something really cool weaving through the trees.
Just throwing this out there: If Sesame Place Williamsburg is coming with a water park section, maybe it makes sense to slim down the, frankly, immense number of horribly dated, disappointing, children's play areas at Water Country USA?
I wouldn't be surprised if the park takes out of one of the oldest attractions in the park, Rampage, along with the SBNO theater located next door. That area of the park hasn't been touched in years and due to the low ridership of Rampage along with the vacant theater I could see the park revitalizing this underutilized land. The only issue with the idea is the clearing of trees would be an insane amount and a potential setback could be the hilly terrain found in the area.
Hopefully, with the expansive untouched land of the park this doesn't lead to the loss of an attraction.

I remember in 2007 before the announcement of Rock N' Roll Island many employees claimed that a water coaster was coming to that exact area of the park. Big if, but I can see it. Maybe shelve some of the slides to reuse. If it’s all connected that taking out those is to put this in, and it’s because SPW is coming it could be great. One thing I like about all the kids areas in WC is no one spot gets overloaded with kids, and it keeps the crowds spread out a bit. But not going get in the way of progress!!
I will say this about the children's areas, they may be outdated but all three remain popular. I get it though, especially if SPW happens. I hate losing anything with so much space to expand, remember all the future phases? I do kind of like replacing rampage and the empty theater though.
I've never done a water coaster but have long wanted one. I am slightly nervous about the idea after that boy was killed a couple years ago though. Anyone know how the restraints are for this type ride?

Water coaster would be awesome! That unfortunate incident with the boy was on a very 'NON typical' water coaster. I have no facts to support this, but I feel any water coaster we might get would be more on the 'typical' end of the spectrum as far as water coasters go. Not the tallest fastest longest most extreme thing ever.

If you're talking about the accident on Verruckt, then it's apples and oranges. Verruckt was pretty much nothing but a gigantic unsafe version of Rampage at WCUSA. A water coaster is a totally different style of ride nowhere near the size and speed to Verruckt. These rides also don't need restraints. There are handles you grab on each side of the raft.

That was not a water coaster that was a poorly designed water slide. There are many water coasters running with extremely good safety records.
