With a little encouragement from my good friends Chris and Kcracken, I have decided to enter the Pretzel Coaster Contest being hosted by Busch Gardens Williamsburg.

Right now, it looks like the finals will be the easy part. I know Griffon like the back of my hand and shouldn't have any trouble with it. The hard part seems like it will be getting to the finals.

For the first coaster, you can build any coaster you want. I'm not the creative sort, so I need some help with this part of it. Should I build something that already exists, or something new? What make, type, ect.

Basically, post your ideas for what you think I should build for the first coaster and I'll choose one. Make you description as elaborate as you wish. The deeper you go into it, the better I should be able to build it. (Can be your original idea or a coaster that already exists that you think would make a good pretzel coaster.)

I was thinking of enering also, Main issue being money for all the pretzels. If you guys want me I can team up, or I can go solo. Here are a few Ideas:

The larger the model is the better details you can add, just make sure everything stays to scale.

A wooden coaster would be easy to make accurately, however using large and small rods, you could make a good tubular track coaster, in between is the Itamin giga style, the triangular track should be fairly easy to replicate, on a very large scale of course.

What ever you make you need to make it look awesome. A replica of Son of the Beast would do that, however it wouldnt have as much of the "how did they do that" effect.

Thats all for now. You didnt think I'd make all my secrets public did you?

That still counts... ;)

I couldn't care less about a team name. If Chris wants to name us the official reps for it, it's fine with me.

(If you all didn't know, I was kidding about the first name. Everyone knows what TBA really means. If you don't for some reason, go here.)

I am doing Premier Rides Poltergeist. If you dont know what it is, google it. If you do know, you know why I picked it.

I have finished the design stage and am about to begin construction. I have designed a coaster INSPIRED by Poltergeist to score extra points in the originality area. According to the rules, coasters will be judged on 50% creativity, and 50% originality. I used rct3 to design the layout, for the sake of time. And have blown up a plan view and elevation on foam board. When finished it will stand ~33" tall, and have a 3x5 footprint. It is a good Idea to read through the official rules just to make sure you do it right.

If I make it to the finals, I will get a 3 night stay in a hotel for four, $100 gas card, four meal cards for in the park, and four 1 week busch gardens/water country tickets. To bad I don't need any of it. I wouldn't mind the room service

I'll post pics as I build. Here's a rct pic of the ride. I actually made it for a sandbox park about a year ago, but it fit what I wanted to do. I color coded the track so I could keep track(srsly, no pun intended) of where it was going.

The coasters track is complete and I am adding the finishing touches( cars, brake runs, Queue, etc.). If anyone has ideas for the little things I'm open to them. I'll post a pic later after I finish the project. If it helps in any way, the name of the coaster is "Snake Pit", at least for now. Not that it needs a name to be entered, but it would be unfitting to call it roller coaster, after all, this isnt Asia.

That's funny!! :D

It is finished! THe roller coaster is complete and the entry is in. Now all there is to do is wait...and post pictures. I will post pictures of the Coaster from now until the 15th. At which point I will post the picture I submitted to
be judged.

Heres the first one:

I'm sorry Fur Dozy, but after seeing your track, I think I might have this in the bag (assuming I can finish). Here are a few pics for everyone's viewing pleasure.

Notice the extreme complexity of the track. This is why it is taking so long. Making that track up-side-down in a huge pain as you might be able to imagine.

Here's a view of the MCBR. I esp. like the staircase. It is low detail, but it still looks cool. Has a bit of a hypnotic effect.
