A few nights ago, my brother and I decided to do a “Deathlist” for roller coasters through 2030. Figured this would be a fun idea to share with this community. We set a couple rules for ourselves:

- A coaster at a park that is slated to close doesn’t qualify, as these are a bit too free. We put Batwing on our list on April 29th, and the announcement of SFA’s closure was made 2 days later. That said, in that instance where the park’s closing announcement is made after your list, free point lol.
- We kept it to rides we don’t think could be relocated.
- 1 coaster per park on the list.
- Currently SBNO rides are allowed unless it was specifically stated that they would not reopen, such as Superman: Escape From Krypton.

Our list was:
1. Vortex (Carowinds)
2. Batwing (Six Flags America)
3. Flash: Vertical Velocity (Six Flags Discovery Kingdom)
4. Whizzer (Six Flags Great America)
5. Riddler Revenger (Six Flags New England)
6. Ninja (Six Flags St. Louis)
7. Woodland Run (Kentucky Kingdom)
8. Top Thrill 2 (Cedar Point)
9. Steel Curtain (Kennywood)
10. Leap the Dips (Lakemont Park)

TT2 and Steel Curtain are entirely dependent on how things go with their reopenings, we would love to be wrong about them and Leap the Dips.

1. X2 (Magic Mountain)
2. Bat (Kings Island)
3. Gemini (Cedar Point)
4. Storm Runner (Hersheypark)
5. Coast Rider (Knotts)
6. Carolina Cyclone (Carowinds)
7. Mr Freeze (Over Texas and/or St Louis)
8. Eejanaika (Fuji-Q)
9. Flight Deck (Canada's Wonderland)
10. Pantherian (Kings Dominion)

Tried to go with a few more controversial ones, rather than just a bunch of obvious stuff. Wouldn't be surprised at all if nearly every Six Flags park closes at least 1 coaster by then.

I really hope they don't close Pantherian. It's currently my favorite coaster I've ever ridden.

Here is my list...

1) Demon (SFGAm)
2) Poltergeist (SFFT)
3) The Riddler Mindbender (SFOG)
4) The Mummy (USH)
5) Kraken (SWO)
6) Tempesto (BGW) - Let the arguments begin again about if this qualifies as a coaster
7) Expedition Everest (DAK)
8) Montu (BGT)
9) Backlog Stunt Coaster (KD)
10) New Revolution (SFMM)

Totally unscientific list, but based it on rides that are really up there in age, don't have high ridership numbers and/or are in spots in various parks that are prime redevelopment areas.

I really think backlot is on its way out... If they aren't going to retheme it with Jungle X, there's no way they're keeping it around.
EDIT: I'm still not getting all the FoF closing rumors. Why do so many people think it's closing?

I’ll add three sneaky picks to this:
Lightning Racer (Hersheypark) - this is over Storm Runner. SR would get LSMs before being torn down because the only thing that can replace it is…itself.

Boulderdash (Lake Compounce) - I really wish titan track or RMC would reproduce and redo everything because this coaster is a constant pothole problem. And it’s so hard to maintain because of being on a steep hillside.

Lightning Rod (Dollywood) - my most controversial of the three. It was ripping itself apart when it was launched and that’s not likely getting better. Add in the thrill of the launch being gone I can see lower ridership and high upkeep rendering it a money pit sooner than later.

Everest is a crazy choice, but I respect it. I think they’d sooner renovate it on the level of Big Thunder Mountain (doubt they’d fix the yeti though), but Animal Kingdom needs a couple more major draws for Everest to face any long term downtime.

I realize Everest is a crazy choice. I put it on here is because I really don't see any other coasters at WDW getting axed any time soon, and with Epic Universe opening, WDW is really going to need to up their game. Besides, as the only coaster at DAK, I think a case could be made for either adding more coasters to that park or not having any coasters at all.

If it weren’t for the muppets retheme of Rockin, that would 100% be on the way out.

I’d think Space Mountain would be gone sooner than any other at WDW. The ride system could be replaced (like DL did) or the ride replaced entirely (like Tokyo is doing).

Mummy at USH is a great pick. That park is expanding and I could easily see this standing in the way of a new land or two. I think it may happen shortly after Hollywood Drift opens.

Leap the Dips is a National Historic Landmark. That doesn't preclude it from being moved to, say, Knoebels or something.

Lightning Racer makes sense in that it's the only realistic way to expand the water park to the size of crowds Hershey gets.

Storm Runner getting LSMs makes far more sense than tearing it down, and it's the kind of investment Hershey would make.
