Viking theme. End of story.

Something like this.

I just want them to rename it and I'd be happy. Don't change anything, don't take away or add anything. Just rename the hamlet. Turn it into Switzerland or something. I'd be ok with that.

Exactly. It really wouldn't be difficult for the park at all. And while they're at it, bring back the real hamlet names instead of generic country nomenclature.

Switzerland would need a lot more of the concrete snow that is sprinkled all around Alpengeist, then it can be legit.

Alpengeist is located in Rhinefield, not New France.

The gate to Rhinefeld is further down the pathway and it seems so obviously out of Germany, I mean they even have the gate closed in the mornings, yet Alpengeist will be open. In fact, I remember being specifically told it was in New France.

There's been rumored talk that the park was gonna retheme New France into Switzerland ever since Alpengeist opened 15 years ago. Hasn't happened yet and I doubt it will ever.

Regardless of where Alpengeist officially is, it's heavy wood theming and location have always linked it to New France in my mind, and probably the minds of lots of other people.

As for the New France retheme...I don't know. You know, if it didn't already exist, and then they announced they were expanding the park by adding New France, I wouldn't like it. It's not the "Old Country" in any way, shape or form. Then again, it's part of Busch Gardens. Trapper's would not be an easy change, and if you put in a Switzerland theme, you'd have to change the whole menu of one of the most popular and best-themed eateries in the park.

A Nordic type theme would technically be European, I suppose, but then it's not European in the way that England, Ireland, Germany, Italy and France are. The northern-most part of Europe is sort of its own thing...kind of like how Russia and the slavic states are in the East. So I don't know how well a Norway or Finland or Sweden retheme would really "fit", either.

I think, if it were me, I would probably just punch up the frontier storyline in the area. I might rename the area as "The New World." That way, it's ambiguous as to whether this is Canada or USA or even Mexico, and you're sort of just telling the story of Europe, in General, arriving in the Americas. I might change some of the buildings in the area to reflect different pioneer styles of the different European settlers.

As for Alpengeist...I'd probably just leave it like it is. If forced to change it, I might give it a different coat of paint and call it Sasquatch or something...I don't know.

Those rumors were true.

You were told wrong. :p

Alpengeist means Ghost of the Alps in German.

Alpengiest is German, the video that used to be played in the queue said it was the ghost of the German Alps and the music played in the queue is that Rheinfeld music. Alpengeist is in Rheinfeld.

Not to mention the fact that the back of the park map specifically lists Alpengeist in Germany...
