This new info pretty much sheds light on why Universal Orlando was fighting the Skyplex project on Sand Lake Road and I Drive. The company is set to buy almost 500 acres of land just northeast of the convention centers. That's more than enough room for a third gate with resorts. The Skyplex project is much closer to this property than the Studios or IOA.
