News Poseidon’s Fury Closing Permanently on May 9th

Lord Darkenon's wrath will be felt by those responsible for this decision.
While I think it's impossible for anyone to be surprised that Poseidon’s Fury is on the chopping block, I am very surprised by the timing here. The Fear Factor stage outliving Poseidon’s Fury is unimaginable to me. USO needs a whole ton of work–weird to see even more attention going towards changes at IOA.
If this is the Zelda land that has long been rumored though, you won't see me complaining about it. IOA will just continue to be an absolutely stacked park. I just hope some serious money is bound for Studios before too long too.

Man, I'll miss this. This type of walkthrough is one of my favorite types of attraction, and is a quickly dying breed.
Live actors in rides and attractions–they just hit different. Every time you experience them, it's a little bit different depending on the cast members you get, the audience you're in, etc. There's a magic and charm that's being lost for sure.
I have to say that per Zachary’s note, the timing here is very weird. It definitely implies they’re intending to develop that plot ASAP, but to what end?
To me, the big key here is that they need to retain indoor/covered attractions to weather the, well, weather. As has long been noted, a Zelda-themed area would be able to reuse a lot of the existing bones of land itself, but Lost Continent suffers from really being a “pass-through” area at a time when immersion is much more valued. You wonder if Nintendo would prefer to use one of the expansion plots in Epic Universe.

I imagine Universal wants to sprinkle Nintendo between all the parks like they have with Potter. Back when Potter was only on the Islands side, I imagine Universal saw a ton of guests doing split vacations with Disney and/or SeaWorld–only doing a single day at the single Uni park with the IP they cared about. I can certainly see Universal wanting to prevent that from happening with Nintendo and Epic Universe. Mario looks like it will probably be the most in-demand property at Epic, but you want those Nintendo tourists to have to visit the two older parks as well.
If this is Zelda and this is the post-Minions, post-DreamWorks project at the two current parks, I do certainly question why it's being prioritized over a Nintendo area at Studios.

Good to bring up but ApexWarrior on the TPS server has since spoken that Higher Ups were informed of the decision last week, so this has a small bit of windup.
And yeah—with the success of SNW in Hollywood and Osaka: alongside the massive success of Illiminations SMB, NBCUniversal doubling down makes sense. Think this will start proper work come post Labor Day, for a 2026 window.

Does this include Mythos? Isn't that a highly regarded restaurant? Unless that gets rethemed with everything else it makes no sense to have that there.
It used to be an incredible restaurant but now it's kinda lost some of that quality. At least that's just my perspective from a visit late last year compared to a visit in 2009.
Honestly I never been, I just know a few of the Disney vloggers who visit Universal hold it very high regard.
Mythos is right next door and part of this land, yes. It is not expected to close alongside Poseidon though.
Given its popularity, reputation, and the iconic design of its interior and exterior, I'd expect a restaurant that looks suspiciously like Mythos to survive no matter what happens to the surrounding area. It may just be like Mythos with a Zelda-themed hat and a fake mustache, but pretty much Mythos nonetheless.
