I saw a video about the S&S axis coaster and the YouTuber specifically said Busch gardens Williamsburg would be a good park to build one. It got me thinking where to build it…

Then I thought about how BGT replaced rhino rally with cheetah hunt, using the old river scene in the coaster layout.

In a very crude way I made an idea of what the layout can be, starting with a lift hill that goes up where the end of the rapids ride is, with a turning drop to the left, running along the area with the waterfalls. This could be lightly rethemed to be underworld themed/temple ruins. Lots of twists and turns with the seats flipping and moving to disorient you.

The last half of the ride would have various high speed traveling up the “river “ with a few twists and spins from the seats.

As this is a prototype it’s hard to predict what a layout may look like but I imagine it would try and use the Roman rapids layout as much as possible.

I like your thought process, but I'm 100% against removing a non coaster and replacing with a coaster. Virginia summers demand a raft ride, as seen by the lines. I would prefer this elsewhere and RR to get the overhaul it deserves.
With so many parks getting rid of their rapids rides it feels like it’s a matter of time honestly before this gets replaced. I mean, for the longest time the waterfalls didn’t work which is the only way to get soaked in this ride. I’ve made a post before about making a brand new updated rapids ride with a drop similar to infinity falls, but I don’t know if the park is willing to start from scratch which is necessary to properly revamp RR.

To be clear, this was a thought experiment of where would I put it since the other best areas to build are around the pipeline and unlikely to ever be built there.

The only other place I could think would be to build on using the corkscrew hill building as station and initial indoor themed section with an outdoor section going along the river to the bridge and finnegans flyers but I know people wouldn’t like that either because of the disruption of the scenic elements. Plus that would mean the only two “indoor” rides at BGW would both be coasters and I think that’s a bad idea, the corkscrew hill building should get a new simulator attraction with totally new updated systems.

The park definitely needs more rides that aren't coasters, so I'm content with keeping Rapids as a water ride.

The ride definitely should be updated though. I'd love to see more intense rapids and an uphill section/drop like Infinity Falls. Still keep the Pluto/underworld theme. I actually like the idea a lot, There's so much Busch could do with something like that. Add an indoor segment with simple special effects and maybe add a tunnel at the base of the big drop at the end.

Instead of removing Roman rapids just make a new layout and some theming and move the event space and stable house elsewhere Screenshot_20240227-073621~2.png

One issue:
Those are one of a very few areas they can easily and safely move the animals to for overnight or during long periods where the park is closed. By removing the stables, and this is assuming this would happen after Holzfaller(?), there is now basically no usable space for pastures.

Dumb thought probably not worth exploring:

Use the pipeline easement as much as possible for pasture space (maybe widen a part or two), especially near the wild reserve.

Knock out the unused space behind the lorikeets and build a barn space (preferably with some petting zoo space).

Hoofed animals have a new barn home conveniently located next to a roadway, old barn space is now available for additional development.

A while ago I wrote a plan for an updated River Styx themed rapids ride but adding a drop and a whole new layout. This was more a thought exercise based on a video I saw. I’d rather see an expanded rapids ride closer to infinity falls
