briefly posted on Cedar Points Website today was an article listing a new pass System for Cedar Fair parks for 2024. It appears to have been accidentally activated and then pulled down soon after. David Latimer In the Kings Dominion Fanatics FB page posted this archived link. Introducing the All Park Passport

Notably Platinum passes will be no more with multiple park add on having to be purchased for gold passes.

Hope this doesn't mean the platinum meal plan is going away ☹️

I mean it would be smart for Cedar Fair, not ideal for my spending at Cedar Fair parks.

I'm curious how much the Gold and Prestige passes will cost. Also do things like free parking, drink and meal plans carry over to other parks or is that gone and you just get admission at other parks?

Something always seemed oddly consumer friendly about the platinum pass loaded with meal plans and drink plans. Guessing a finance guy at corporate noticed. What a jerk who would knowingly become a finance guy and recommend ways to improve revenue at the company they work for at the cost of the consumer. Definitely not somebody in the same profession as me, nope.

I assume if we have a platinum pass now, then if we renew we keep the same platinum pass and don't need to get a new gold colored pass. Kinda exclusive bling bling then, if so. Though it could lead to the confusion of a platinum pass without the All Park Passport. Hmm.

I have a feeling this is exactly what it means. Or something else is going to be taken away.

They are advertising the gold pass, plus the upgrade as costing, less than the current platinum pass. There is no way they’re going to reduce pricing like that. So I think there’s going to be a catch where we end up paying more.

Cedar Fair loves to bait and switch. They are not super ethical when it comes to business with their customers.

There’s also this statement on the Carowinds season pass page that’s concerning

“Season Pass benefits subject to change without notice.
Platinum and Prestige+ Passholder benefits may vary by park. Contact the park you are planning to visit for any questions regarding applicable benefits.”

I've got to say, not a huge fan of this.

First off what @horsesboy posted about that final tag on of "Benefits may vary by park to contact the park". That feels like a cheap way for them to sidestep people 'shopping' for their pass based on best benefits. But if lower passes would do away with multipark access - why would you need to do that?

As for @CoasterAuditor 's comment - I would 100% bet that's exactly what happened though. They looked at the bottom line of that pass and realized that they were losing more money on that pass than it was worth and decided to kill it off.

As far as @Nicole 's comment about it being smart - I actually agree for some parks where the "level" of the park is mostly the same. SEAS outside of SWSD seem to operate all at the 'same level'. I think SF has too many tiers. If I joined that all parks thing with one pass but I primarily visit SFA because I live 15 minutes away, I would feel really ripped off right now just because I used it 2x at SFGAd and SFNE (yes that's exactly what I've done this summer). I wouldn't mind a "all parks pass" that's cheaper with a lower tier home park but limits access to the bigger parks in the chain. Like if I did what I did with SFA but I could only get 1 visit at S-tier parks, 2 at A-tier, unlimited at all others and they designated certain parks that way I think it would be a better outcome in sales of that pass.

Because what @Gavin posted is what makes me leery of this. 6 parks posted and I think it's fair to say that KD and Knotts aren't on the level of those other 4. So unless there's huge investments into those two parks I'm not really keen on getting that pass as a KD member unless I really was going to travel to those other parks enough. And on top of that, to my point above, what if Dorney is your "home" CF park and you do want to go on a trip to those other parks? You can't get this Prestige Pass then unless you go to one of those 6 parks.

I think in theory - good idea. Kind of half baked though.

Alright so I figured out the beauty of the All Park Passport for value. You don't have to buy it with your gold pass at all and can instead buy it whenever you want to spend the $100 on it like the meal plan and drink plan. The prices on the add-ons have always been fairly static throughout the year. Those of you looking to save money, I'd snag your 2024 gold pass for $99 and then get the add-ons at your discretion in 2024.

What happens if you have gold and get the drink and meal plans, and then add all park? Do your add-ons work at other parks or only KD? If not can you upgrade them?

I appreciate the variety of options. I always thought it was strange the only difference between Gold and Platinum was access to all of Cedar Fair, I can’t see a significant quantity of people spending the extra money for that. People often point out to me “that place is 3 hours away isn’t KD 20 minutes away?” to kill most Hershey/Great Adventure/anywhere else discussion.

You have to select either single or multi-park options for the add-ons. I imagine you could upgrade them later. It is in the screenshots I shared in the Prestige Pass thread:

Post in thread 'Kings Dominion Debuting Prestige Pass for 2024'

Yeah, that's the question, can you upgrade or do you have to then pay full price for the multi-park meal-plan/drink add-ons? I'm guessing you can upgrade, but they haven't said that specifically anywhere I've seen. I'll see if I can get an answer from their customer support.

EDIT: initial reply was not terribly encouraging. It was just, "you have to buy the all-park dining plan" to get it for all parks. I replied back clarifying my question and hopefully I get the answer that you can pay the difference to upgrade your existing KD-only dining (and/or drink) plans to all-park.

“Once you addon the all park passport, it will upgrade your dining so it is available at all cedar fair locations.”

That sounds like you would be a fool to buy the all-park add-on and meal/drink plans initially and instead should buy the base pass and KD-only add-ons and then buy the all-park season pass add-on separately. But I doubt that’s right. Probably when you go to add all-park it will add the difference for the meal and/or drink plans too. I guess someone will have to try it to see what exactly happens here.
