Event Peanuts Celebration

I haven’t seen any confirmation from the park yet on this, but CP Food Blog has announced that Carowinds will be getting the Peanuts Celebration and it will occur during the weekends between Scarowinds and WinterFest! I’m honestly not sure how they’re gonna pull off setting up WinterFest in less than a week... I’m sure that will be a daunting task!

Do you think this will happen at Kings Dominion this season? What are your thoughts on Carowinds doing this?

I think it’s worth noting here that Carowinds did not bring this event back for the 2021 season, and the special event calendar does not list it as returning for 2022, either. I thought it was odd for the park to do this event between Scarowinds and WinterFest… I wonder if this is why the event didn’t do so well in Charlotte?

In addition, Valleyfair got the Peanuts Celebration in 2019 and from what I can gather, it was met with moderate success. They were supposed to get the event again in 2020, but the pandemic pushed its return to 2021. I don’t think the event actually returned, and in 2022, the event page on their website still states that it will return in…. 2021. Not a good sign at all.

Is there a reason why the Peanuts Celebration doesn’t seem to work outside of Knott’s? They’ve actually expanded their event to a daily event rather than a weekend-only event.

I was hoping that Kings Dominion could possibly get this event, but the fact that Carowinds and Valleyfair haven’t brought it back since 2019 isn’t a good sign for the event to come to Doswell. So sad.

Cedar Fair already "milks" the Peanuts Intellectual Property, that they have the rights for, to the max.

Maybe in most of the other places where CF tried this Peanut focused event, people feel the Peanuts branding is aleady very saturated in that park. I guess they feel like they are overdosing on the Peanuts brand and stay away.

Or, it is simply the timing of when they are holding this event in a park. Carowinds placed the Peanuts Celebration event on the calendar to draw folks to the park between Haunt and Winterfest.

I'm guessing most folks wanted a break from visiting the park between the two major fall/winter events. Example, majority of season pass holders visit the park for Haunt 2-3 times over its 6-7 week run. Folks take a 2-3 week break and then visit Winterfest 2-3 times during its 6-7 week run.

To me, the Peanuts Celebration should be a springtime event. The majority of CF parks don't have any type springtime event on their calendars. Kick the event off during spring break and run it for 2-4 weeks. It would end in late April to early May.
