ParkFans.Network: An Enthusiast Mastodon Server [Extinct]

Effective 00:01 September 7th, 2024, ParkFans.Network will be ceasing operations.
From the beginning, we knew the likelihood that an open-source, non-profit, decentralized platform like Mastodon would successfully replace Twitter was slim. We made the decision to spin up our Mastodon instance, ParkFans.Network, in case that slim chance became a reality. Unfortunately, but predictably, that idealistic outcome did not come to fruition.
Given that the immediate outlook doesn't seem to be improving for non-Twitter microblogging alternatives anytime soon, we've decided to provide notice that our Mastodon instance will cease operations on September 7th.
Anyone who did have an account that they wish to save can port that account out to another Mastodon instance at any time before the shutdown date. Instructions on how exactly to do so can be found here.
Our in-house Mastodon accounts that are currently hosted on our own instance will, likewise, be ported elsewhere in the weeks ahead.
If anyone has any questions about this decision, their ParkFans.Network Mastodon accounts, or anything else related to this announcement, let us know and we'll do our best to answer.

are you saying this is for mastodon server, because I never heard of it
and if anything: replace mastodon server with bluesky server which is the better version of x (formerly twitter)

No, ParkFans.Network is a Mastodon Server that we have been hosting for the community. Everything else (forums, blogs, etc.) is business as usual.
At this time, we don't have any interest or the resources to launch a Bluesky instance. There is going to be some pretty big changes coming this off season that will take priority. However, we could always revisit this at a later date.
Final curtain call for the ParkFans.Network Mastodon Server is this Friday. The entire Mastodon instance will be coming down. This is your last chance to migrate your Mastodon account to a new host.
If you don't know what Mastodon is or have never used it, this does not apply to you. This has no impact on the ParkFans Forum (ParkFans.net).

For the record, if there are any Mastodon users out there in our audience still, our in-house Bluesky accounts have all been bridged to the Fediverse via Bridgy Fed. Feel free to follow us at the addresses/links below.

We still think Mastodon and the Fediverse are pretty damn based, but right now, Bluesky/ATProto is definitely in the lead in thoosies circles. We are very devoted to contributing however we can to empowering better microblogging spaces for the larger thoosie community and, at least for the foreseeable future, the best bet looks to be Bluesky. I did want to give any possible Fedi users a way to access the feed via their platform of choice though, hence adding ourselves to Bridgy Fed.
If any Fediverse fans have any suggestions or recommendations on how to better bridge the gap, definitely let us know!

I don't understand anything you just said, but I didn't know parkfans was on bluesky. Just followed.
