The Parachuter's Perch was added to Great Adventure as part of the 1983 season, and was the "World's Tallest Ride" for many years at a height of 250'.

The ride was originally built at Six Flags Over Mid-America (Six Flags St. Louis) in 1978, and was moved to Great Adventure which was rapidly growing attendance and expanding in the early 1980's. The ride remained the tallest in the park until 2005 when Kingda Ka opened.

The decision to close the Parachuter's Perch came in 2022 and it remained standing but not operating for two more seasons until demolition permits were issued for its removal on November 12, 2024.

I've always thought of this as one of the most beautifully detailed Spotlights on GAH. Such vivid descriptions of every element of the ride and its historical connections, with so many great photos of the park transforming around the Parachute tower throughout the years. Even when SBNO the tower has always looked amazing on the skyline.

That picture of Bogey in the seat gets me every time.

I went on that ride and I love it, sad to see it go, but also wondering how are they gonna take down the ride, take it part by part or let the tower fall with implosion like six flags over texas did with their parachute tower

Hey friends!

Over the last month, i've been working hard on a new video in my Why It's Gone series on youtube. This time, I decided to showcase the Parachute Tower at GAdv! I go over the complete history of the attraction, from the rides conception, development, changes, construction, relocation, capacity, and demolition! I learned a ton of things about the ride that I had no idea about, and hopefully you do to! Let me know what you think!
