The Orlando Free Fall is the worlds tallest standalone drop tower. The tower will take riders up 430 feet, and drop at 75mph at a 30 degree angle. The Orlando Free Fall and the new Orlando Slingshot (also the worlds tallest) are located in Icon Park.

We expect to have the ride open to the public on Tuesday 12/28, with staff training taking place tomorrow.

Dusting this one off - I will be in Orlando in June for work but may have some time on my travel days to go visit some local attractions - the conference I'm attending is planning on taking us to Universal, and tbh I can't find myself affording the price or time for Disney or just the price of SWO (also, got several rides on Manta and Kraken a few years ago so not sure Ice Breaker will be worth the $90 ticket).

However, looking at the map - this complex is just about a 5 minute ride from where I'm staying.

Question is, is it worth checking out, or is there something better to do for roughly half-day with not much extra entertainment budget?

The drop tower is incredible. For only $12 definitely try it and make the pit stop to icon. We have a pass to the do StarFlyer and Drop Tower for $20 if you haven’t done either of them. Best deal in Orlando!

If you’re nervous, I always recommend getting some cheap drinks at the Star Bar before you hop on.

Some solid food options in Icon as well if you’re hungry during your visit.

It's sounding more like a winner - is it open every day in the summer or do they have some off days?

What does it mean by it drops at a 30° angle? It looks like a normal, if rather tall, drop tower to me.

I don’t want to comment much as I actually work for the company, but please keep it civil and not too crazy in this thread. Before anybody jumps to conclusions, the sensors were verified. Lots of investigating to do. Very emotional night. Prayers to all family involved.

I am very curious how that happened as I was looking forward to riding this summer.

Also, for rides like this how hard would it be to install cameras on the vehicles as a means to expedite investigations (not just for horrible accidents, but also more common issues such as guests spitting or tossing anything from the ride)?

Can't find a consistent answer online through limited Googling, what's the manufacturer?

I frankly wouldn't comment at all if I was in your situation.
